The Ember Desert

In the south of the continent there is a large desert. The desert is caused by the portal to the Plane of Fire. It's hot and inhabitable to all but the most hardy nomads. The sand is boiling hot and the closer to the portal the sand is a deep red color until it reaches the mountains where the the stone mixes with lava. The portal lies within a ring of volcanoes. There is a trade route but the trek between the portal and the closest city is a dangerous one. The army controls the safe trade route between the independent trade city and the fire plane. They often clash with the nomads who roam the area since the route over laps the safer places in the desert. They say that before the god of fire created the portal the land around it was one of the most lush places in the world. That's why the god placed it there to spite his sister, the goddess of life.

Geography

The desert is filled with large dunes and in between flat valleys that are scorching hot. The mountains in the center rise out tall into the dark sky of smoke that fums out of the volcanoes.

Fauna & Flora

There are the typical desert animals plus those who would live there out of the monster manual. It is also said to be the home of a dragon made of smoke and magma. The physical form of the Eshan god of fire.

Natural Resources

The desert doesn't have much in the way of resources but there is a trade route between the city on the edge of the desert and the fire plane.
