Munumbra (muhn-UHM-brah)

The Munumbra are small palm-sized birds with antlers nearly the same size as their bodies. They are especially useful as messengers as they can "connect" with other Munumbra, allowing individuals to contact one another without a need for Sending or other such communication spells.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Palm-sized birds that appear similar to owls in appearance. They have branching antlers atop their heads that are nearly the same size as their bodies.

Genetics and Reproduction

A Munumbra lays a single egg in its lifetime, without a need for a mate. There is no known timeline or requirement for when a Munumbra will choose to lay their egg. An egg can take days to decades to hatch. It is theorized that the longer it takes to hatch, the more branches there will be on the antlers of the hatchling.

Growth Rate & Stages

Once hatched, a Munumbra grows to adulthood within a single moon cycle, dependent on the plane of existence it hatches on. Munumbra often hatch under Dusk on Eshai, rarely will they hatch under Dawn, but regardless they reach adulthood in 30 days on Eshai.

Ecology and Habitats

Munumbra appear to thrive anywhere there are trees and others of their kind. While they do not mate, they are not solitary creatures.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Munumbra seem to feed on psychic energy, perhaps they originate from Ska, the Shadowfell?

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The more branches on the Munumbra's antlers, the more connections they can link at any one time. These allow for effectively a "conference call".
