Kat'chi (KAHT-chii)

The Kat'chi is a proud beast adorned with bioluminescent feathers used to dazzle their prey as well as attract mates.    They always have, at a minimum, a dull glow to them-- but it is more common to see their feathers alight with a dazzling display of colors, and this light can illuminate dark areas even 20-30ft away from their bodies.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Kat'chi looks like a T-rex, if that T-rex had a neck frill like a frilled lizard... and that frill was feathers rather than skin.   The whole of the Kat'chi is covered in feathers, except for a small area on its face (muzzle), and the lower portions of its limbs where the feathers make way for scales, and then claws.

Genetics and Reproduction

They reproduce by laying eggs. The eggs take 5 months to hatch.

Growth Rate & Stages

Kat'chi grow to adolescence in ~3 years, and then they reach adulthood after another ~5. Even in adulthood they don't reach their full growth until they are ~12-20 years old.

Ecology and Habitats

Kat'chi typically live in Forests, and, surprisingly the Feydark. This is surprising as they cannot see in darkness, but somehow they still thrive down there.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Kat'chi eat only meat.

Behaviour

Kat'chi are mostly solitary beasts, though they will join into a small grouping of up to 3 individuals when raising young to adolescence. After that they appear to separate once again.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Kat'chi cannot see in the dark, surprisingly, but perhaps that is no surprise seeing as they are able to burst themselves into light like a firebug.    They are, however, able to see through illusions. This is an interesting trait they seem to have evolved over time as they have a second set of false eyes they did not once have either.
