Fey Etiquette

Eshan Common Sense

Etiquette:
--Never ask for something of someone's person "May I have your name?"
--Always have impeccable manners, to be rude is detested.
--Look for the trap behind every word.
--If you take from nature, you must give something back to it. To not do so is to upset the balance.   Deals:
--Don't accept a gift from a fey without having something equal to offer in return.
--Don't repay more than you borrowed, this will put the Fey into your debt and many do not take kindly to this deceitful type of debt.
--Unless you're 100% positive about a contract, never make a deal.
--Never gift what you can't afford to lose.
--Fae typically trade in things other than coin.   Rules:
--Never play by the same rules twice.
--Fey never tell others exactly what their rules are unless thoroughly prompted, and to thoroughly prompt a fey for rules is considered rude.
--Every rule has an exception.   Sense:
--The more beautiful a Fae is, the older and more dangerous it is.
--Perception can be reality (so always try to see truly)
--If it looks safe, it probably isn't.
--If it looks dangerous, it probably is.
--Don't trust old women who are alone.
--Homonyms are your friends: link

Fey Laws

--"All which given, and accepted, must be paid back in turn, but can never be taken back."
--"Hospitality is the greatest law within one's own realm."     --Fey cannot tell a lie. This does not prevent them from speaking half truths or sayings with multiple meanings.
--A gift given and accepted is a deal of equal exchange. The gift may be taken as a different equality than the giver believes it to be.
--Running water weakens Fey. This is temporary and should not be trusted to keep you safe.
--Saying "Thank you" is accepting a gift, whether or not you were prepared to do so.
--Giving your full name gives others power over you. They can curse, hex, bewitch, scry, enchant/enthrall, kill, and commit any other whim upon you having your full name.
--Unless given to someone, your full name cannot be heard within Eshai. Thus, unless it comes from your mouth, it is treated as if only you can hear it.
--Everything has a cost
--A guest that claims Hospitality Rights cannot be harmed within the abode, and must be protected by the owner of said abode against any enemy(ies) that choose to break Hospitality.
--A guest must be Courteous to claim Hospitality Rights, and a break in Courtesy is seen as a breach in the Right to Hospitality.
