Vorth

Vorth

Population: ~74,000
Primary Inhabitants: Dragonborn and Kobold (70%)
Dominant Function: Arcane training, storm magic, arcane engineering

Vorth is a stunning magical city sculpted around the Stormspire—a towering monolith of pulsing blue crystal that hums with arcane energy and discharges wild lightning into the heavens. This arcane storm vortex crowns the city in a perpetual halo of crackling storm clouds, visible for miles, and audible even from the outskirts. The spire serves as the city’s heart and power source, regulating arcane infrastructure, shielding spells, and even powering weather forges. At its base lies The Storm Keep, Vorth’s most revered institution and one of the greatest arcane universities in the world. This academy trains promising mages from youth in battle magic, stormcraft, and arcane engineering, forging them into terrifying stormcasters, Thunder knights, and arcane tacticians.

Districts

The Crackling Court

The elite district closest to the Stormspire, where high-ranking mages, archons, and arcane theorists dwell. The air itself tingles with energy, and skybridges of solid lightning connect towers. Many experimental labs and arcane dueling arenas are found here. Residents use magical elevators and storm-gliders to navigate the vertical maze of arcane towers.

Tempest Hollow

Home to the general populace—arcane engineers, lesser mages, and service workers. Apartments and public works are built using magically reinforced basalt and fragmentglass. Streetlamps flicker with elemental light, and every block has small lecture halls where even commoners receive basic magical education.

The Conduction Market

A massive, circular plaza where magically charged goods, enchanted metals, and stormforged tools are bought and sold. This open-air market is lined with retractable storm domes in case of a lightning surge. Here kobold tinkers and dragonborn smiths are seen collaborating regularly.

The Surge Yards

Industrial arcane factories and research halls that test volatile enchantments and construct power-cores for weapons, airships, and warforged armor. It’s a place of danger and innovation, where a failed experiment could rupture a block. Only those with full Dominion clearance may enter unsupervised.

Notable Institutions

The Storm Keep – The most prestigious arcane academy in the Dominion. Teaches weather control, storm invocation, arcane warfare, and magical engineering.

The Coilforge Sanctum – A secretive guild of stormsmiths who channel lightning through complex circuits and enchanted coils.

The Shardlight Conservatory – A specialized training center for kobolds gifted in spell shaping and arcane support roles.

Leadership and Key NPCs

Scale Bearer Vellior Thazarn – The silver-scaled archmage and Vorth’s representative on the Drakmir Conclave. A cold and calculating storm mage, he pioneered the fragment-bonding technique that lets arcane armor store lightning. the technique is closely guarded state secret and rarely practiced. Thazarn is rarely seen in public except during academy duels and conclave business.

Dean Rhessira Flamecoil – A crimson-scaled dragonborn and current headmistress of The Storm Keep. Known for her fiery lectures and refusal to coddle weak minds, she was once a general in the Draconic Legions before turning to academia.

Artificer-Master Yillix the Bold – A white-scaled kobold with wild, frost-tipped whiskers and a reputation for surviving his own explosions. Leads the Coilforge Sanctum. Beloved and feared in equal measure.

Marshal Cael Drakrin – Commander of Vorth’s city guard, a scarred bronze dragonborn veteran of Kryzath who now enforces arcane law and dueling etiquette with ruthless fairness.

Culture

Vorth lives and breathes magic. Even the children can conjure sparks, and lightning tattoos mark the most gifted. Knowledge is power here even where most scales are blue. arcane rank means more than bloodline. Duels of theory and power are held weekly, and magical achievement is celebrated like sport. But beneath the brilliance lies competition, sabotage, and ambition sparking like live wires under every calm exterior.
