Sylvandar
Sylvandar – Capital of the Elven Republic
Population: 170,000 (70% elvish, non elves live in lowest branches of Woaden Trees)
Sylvandar is a breathtaking city interwoven with the ancient and sacred Woaden Trees, a species of enormous trees found nowhere else in the world. These trees are living monuments. Woaden Trees exceed three thousand feet in height, they are grown, shaped, and protected by generations of elven caretakers. Every structure in Sylvandar, from homes to schools to spires, is either carved into or magically coaxed from these towering beings.
Built vertically through the forest canopy, the city operates in tiers of elevated platforms, woven bridges, and cascading light spells. Sylvandar is a harmony of nature, arcana, and artistry. The entire city is a living tribute to the elven ethos of beauty through mastery. The city is primarily home to High Elves and Wood Elves, with smaller percentages from other elven subtypes. Tampering with a Woaden Tree is considered a capital crime. The elite Woaden Rangers enforce this law with near-mythic reverence, operating independently from the government. Their legendary commander, Captain Ayren Thornleaf, is a grim sentinel clad in bark-forged armor, known for speaking only when absolutely necessary, except where the Woaden trees are concerned when discussing his beloved trees he can talk for hours.
Though King Thaloras Vaelith serves as a ceremonial monarch, true authority lies with the Senate of Sixteen. Eight members are elected representatives and eight noble-born senators known as the Eterna Voca. The Eight permanent positions reserved for the noble families, or the Etrna Voca is a steady influence keeping the elves from relinquishing their attitude of superiority.
At the head of the Senate sits the First Arbiter, Selura Duskweave, a centuries-old enchantress and diviner chosen by the king and approved by the Senate. She wields considerable political clout as the deciding voice in all deadlocked matters. her term of 100 years will be up at the end of they year, but no one is a clear leader as a replacement.
Districts
The Crownlimbs
This elevated and ancient district houses the Vita Forum (Senate chamber), the royal estate of House Vaelith, and the ancestral manors of the Eterna Voca. Shimmering arcane wards float across the bark, and every platform is engraved with the city’s living history.
Whispergrove
The cultural and spiritual heart of Sylvandar, this district hosts open-air temples to Corellon, illusion theaters, sculpture gardens, and song galleries. It is a place of reflection, where the stars shine brightest through the canopy.
Verdant Reach
Sylvandar’s arcane and academic center, the Reach contains enchanted schools, alchemical markets, and spell ink foundries. Magical theory is taught beside herbalism, and enchantment is as common as carpentry.
The Barkline
