Fizzleforge
Fizzleforge (Experimental City)
Fizzleforge is where the gnomes let their creativity—and their constructs—run wild. Half aboveground and half subterranean, the city is known for its thick-walled buildings, built to survive the occasional (or frequent) magical explosion.
The city revolves around Fizzleforge University, the premier institution for engineering, construct design, and experimental magitech. Before gaining access to lab space, students must complete detailed forms estimating the blast radius of any potential mishaps. The university is led their headmaster, a Gnome named Thannik. He is rarely seen without his sentient armor.
Life in Fizzleforge is risky, brilliant, and never boring. The city attracts bold thinkers, fringe innovators, and reckless artificers who view safety warnings as polite suggestions.
Fizzleforge is divided into four districts. two above ground and two below.
Districts
Fizzleforge is divided into four districts:
Embersteel Row
- Function: Upper-Class Workshops & Artificer Residences
- Description: A vibrant and industrious district lined with ornate, reinforced towers billowing steam and light. This is where senior artificers, construct designers, and government-aligned inventors live and work. The air hums with the sound of enchanted engines and hissing valves.
The Cracklefront
- Function: Commercial Strip & Public Access Labs
- Description: Known for its open-air markets, taverns, and explosive vendor demos, the Cracklefront is a chaotic blend of innovation and unpredictability. It’s also where the general population comes for repairs, supplies, or some semi-safe public testing.
The Scorchvault
- Function: High-Security R&D Zone
- Description: Deep beneath the city lies the Scorchvault, a network of bunker-like labs used for testing unstable or forbidden magitech. Only authorized personnel can access it—though unauthorized tunneling is a known issue. The walls are warded with force glyphs, and the lighting pulses in green and orange.
Coildown
- Function: Residential Slum & Scrap Market
- Description: A twisting undercity built from recycled parts, failed constructs, and collapsed tunnels. It houses the lower class, independent tinkerers, and those exiled from the universities for unethical experimentation. Despite its poverty, Coildown is alive with rogue genius and black-market innovation.
