Steam Gondola

In every district, there is a station for the Steam Gondola that runs all over Gadael. The Steam Gondola is a water-powered, suspended trolley capable of transporting individuals to the other districts or the mining sites outside of the city. There is one gondola station in each district, one at the Citycenter/market, and one that goes to the mines outside of Glowyr. With the first gondola being created after the arrival of the Orcs, they were constructed not only as a means of fast transportation, but also for safety, since no monster that lives on the ground can reach it.
The council wants to expand the reach of the Gondola to hunting camps or other sites outside of the city, as it would make passage to these locations much safer, but there are not enough resources and workers to go around to do so. Whenever the gondola breaks down, it must be seen by the already-limited number of engineers and architects. This happens on occasion and makes getting to the districts difficult. Since mining relies on the gondola, most of the effort and maintenance are put towards the line running to the mountain rather than the lines running to the districts. This point is argued often in council meetings because a slow or malfunctioning gondola makes it much harder to get to the Citycenter or the market.
The closed-off gondola carriages offer a degree of privacy that could not be obtained on the street. At all of the stations (particularly the one in Dynol), there are often shady dealings that occur after dark, either the illegal exchange of resources or rumored conversations between members of the Watchers of the Wald outside of their meetings.
