Ersterwald Magic (Purple Flare)

Ersterwald’s Magic, as opposed to other traditional forms of magic, can only be acquired through a tedious process that requires mining the correct kind of gemstones. Ersterwald’s magic is derived from a special gemstone the gnomes referred to as “Purple flare” due to its luminous deep purple color. Unaware of its capabilities, the gnome people used purple flare for decorative and accessory purposes. When the elves discovered the existence of purple flare, they immediately recognized it as a dark and powerful magic, that could only be mined by the most skilled and professional craftsmen, for it is extremely difficult to remove these delicate gemstones in one piece, which is vital to the magic extraction process.

In order to successfully extract magic from the purple flare, the stone must be unscathed, and placed in a capsule or container of sorts. An elvish chant is performed over the stone, and if spoken clearly and correctly, the magic will seep from the purple flare into the container or capsule in which it is held. If the stone is damaged or chipped, the magic will not “seep” from the stone, but rather will powerfully spurt from the crack or seem, causing immense pain and harm to anything in its trajectory. Raw, extracted Ersterwald magic will melt the flesh of any living organism it comes into contact with. After the raw Ersterwald magic is extracted from the purple flare it must mature in the provided capsule or container for 48 hours before it is safe to use for other purposes such as mending technology and forming the Dryadalis treehouse huts.
