Erioedeh

The world of Erioedeh focuses primarily on the continent Domhnall, and its southern neighbor Striga. Domhnall got its name from the once great Empire that nearly held the entirety of the continent. Its been nearly 600 years since its collapse, but most the existing nations have come to use their name to refer to the continent at large. As for Striga, their name is more of a slur than anything. They are a land comprised of what many in Domhnall would consider the more "brutish" races. Races that were said to be birthed from the black fires, such as Orcs, Goblins, Greppli, and Tieflings.   It was more than six centuries ago when the Empire of Domhnall fell, no one alive today truly knows what lead to its collapse. What records this empire kept have been scorched and reduced to ash. Only their melted stone remains to tell the world they had existed. Their name persists through the stories, often tied together with something they refer to as "The Great Calamity". When the speak of this event, they speak of roaring fires, black skies, and black earth. Even the mountains seemed to have suffered through whatever happened, bearing some formerly oozing stone near their base.   The few surviving relics that have been recovered speak of Domhnall's strength, often dwarfing what even the greatest minds of any of the nation's that exist today could come up with (when they work that is). Even the fragments of their relics are highly sought after by every country; as its from these fragments great technology has arisen, such as the firearms from Drakengaurd, or the higher magicks of Alterra. Though people tend to treat these relics with great caution as well, for they are just as likely to bring ruin to someone as they are to lift them up.   It was the Wyrwood who were the worst example of this, originally coming from a expedition into the ruins by one of Alterra's great mage houses, the House of Wyr, the Wyrwood were automatons that were expected to revolutionize Alterra. They were capable of doing such a range of activities, from things such as simple farming, and to what was most important to Alterra, being foot soldiers in war. Yet, before they could ever take them into the battle, the Wyrwood rose up against their new creators and nearly brought the nation to its knees. It was a decade of fighting before Alterra, with help from Bachleda, were able to push these automatons back into the mountains. But the Wyrwood claimed the northern third of their land, and Alterra is still reeling from this today, 60 years later.
