The Olidian Nation
Founded in roughly -2300 BCA, the Olidian nation arose out of necessity, as the Gridal Empire was advancing on their continent with great military strength and at the time, the Olidian nation was simply a set of divided states. They decided to band together in the pursuit of defending their own way of life from the Gridalians.
The Olidian nation has always had a strong focus on free trade for the prosperity of it's citizens, believing that getting the right resources to the right place is the best way to ensure the health and happiness of it's residents. It arose out of conflict with the Gridalians, however even after those disputes were resolved, it found great wealth and growth in continuing throughout future times.
As early as -260 BCA the Olidian nation began trading with all other nations, leading to it's enormous growth in both culture and in wealth.
In -160 BCA, the Olidians were partly responsible for causing the great famine in True Crysteria, as a break down in trade negotiations led to them suffering a lack of food, which was originally a large part of their exports in to Crysteria.
With the invention of Magitek, the Gridal empire focused on improving it's ability to trade, originally creating mechanized vehicles whilst buying weapons from the Gridalians, these vehicles would later mostly be retired due to concerns about the abuse of Magitek in 80 CA. The Olidian nation remained the primary manufacturers of Magitek technology however, and still are to this day.
In 230 CA, the Olidian nation paved the way toward greater freedom of movement in the world by inventing airships, with their main goal being to ease over seas trade.
With the monstrous upsurge in 238 CA, the Olidian wealth declined slightly, as they began to hire both people and weapons from the Gridal empire.
It's quite surprising, that the entirety of the Olidian nation was not explored fully until 250 CA, when the southern island was explored by airship, and the Tortle race was discovered. Their island surrounded by grand mountains which kept strangers out.
The Olidian nation is currently ruled by a council consisting of the leaders of all the major cities. (Olidia, Lindow, Padstow, Aldmerrow, Medrebu, and Mudbay, by special designation.)
Structure
Democratic republic. Each major city elects a representative who has a seat in office. There is no overall leader, and most decisions occur by vote upon issues raised by the elected representatives.
