Aether

Aether is the magical energy released in small quantities by crystals. It can be harvested from the air with the correct magical techniques, and in turn may be solidified in to "crystallized Aether" for use in Magitek devices.
Aether is believed to be the primary energy that makes up all crystals, and thus, is the energy that gives way to all life in the universe.
When a crystal is damaged, large amounts of Aether will be released. Damaging a crystal is generally impossible, as they are resistant to all known forms of damage.
All life forms contain a small amount of Aether, that is released upon their death.
Expended Aether (through magic, or Magitek) returns to the planet.
