Wood Elves

Summary

One of the five humanoid magical races, Wood Elves are one of the oldest humanoid races still alive today. Born from (WIP Name)s that were deeply attuned with the magic of nature and the forests, Wood Elves, due to them living in forests without access to farmlands Wood Elves have become very proficient with bows in order to hunt for their food. Wood Elves are also able to communicate with the animals around them and are skilled in nature based magics. Wood Elf forests are found along the northern edge of the lands controlled by the Citadelen Alliance and serve as the archers in its militaries.

Physical Appearance

Elves are considered to be the most beautiful of the humanoid races with their tall, lean builds and elegant features. Though some of the more bestial human races may disagree, their general lack of blemishes and inability to gain excessive as well as their long almost immortal lifespans that cause them to appear youthful and strong for the vast majority of their lives and even as they near death only the slightest signs of their true age ever appear. Wood Elves are averagely strong and although they show slightly more musculature than their High Elven counterparts still appear to be on the weaker side of humanoids. The elongated ears signature of the Elven races are also present and are also slightly larger than those of the High Elves.

Wood Elf Craftsmanship

Wood Elves are more humble than High Elves and believe they are necessarily superior. Even though some Wood Elves, such as those from the more populated forest cities, wear clothing similar to that of the High Elves, most Wood Elves chose to wear clothing that while still accentuating the body of the wearer is much more simple in design. Many Wood Elves; however, chose to forgo clothing in its entirety and go a more natural path that allows them to be closer to nature. Unlike High Elf craftsmen, Wood Elf craftsmen grow their cities from trees with the use of nature magic. While similar in style and design to High Elven cities, Wood Elf cities are made almost entire from living wood as opposed to the stone and metal construction of High Elven cities. Wood Elves, having no serious investment in metalworking themselves use the same weapons and armor as the High Elves.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Wood Elves have a basic humanoid appearance with two arms, two legs, a torso and a head. The only differences between them and humans in appearance is their unnatural beauty and their long, pointed ears.

Genetics and Reproduction

Elves reproduce in much the same way as humans; however, female elves are pregnant for nearly two years from the date of conception to the date of birth.

Growth Rate & Stages

Due to their unnaturally long lifespans, elves are not considered to have reached adulthood until they are past the age of one hundred. A result of their innate magic they age drastically slower than other humanoids and don't show any signs of old age until they are nearly 600 years old. Wood Elves have a maximum life expectancy of 750 years but are expected to die closer to the age of 700.

Ecology and Habitats

Wood Elves are most comfortable in their cities of living wood or in the forests of their homeland. Wood Elves generally prefer to be close to nature even if it is a single tree in a town square.

Dietary Needs and Habits

As a result of their elongated lifespan and magical connection with the world, Wood Elves don't need to eat very much to sustain their bodies. Most Wood Elves chose to eat meat from game they have hunted themselves or berries and fruits they have gathered themselves. While not known for their natural food diets they are well for their spiced berry wines.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Most Elves consider themselves to be better than the rest of the magical humanoid races and have had a general distrust of all humans, orcs, and halflings ever since they first attacked the Citadelen Alliance during the time of the Mage Wars.
Some Wood Elves are starting to look past the mistakes that the humans made during the Mage Wars and are allowing the reconstruction of relations between the two sides. Although the Wood Elves are able to forgive most of the human allied races they are having a hard time forgiving the Orcs due to their treatment of the elf prisoners of war during the conflict.
