The Invading Cloud

Not much is known about the Invading Cloud as a whole, other than the fact that no one who has entered it has ever come back out.
It looks like a crimson cloud floating at sea level, hundreds of kilometres away from Eregost. The bad news is that it is ever so slowly getting closer. The predecessor of my colleague Church Paratir, the Grand Archivist, demanded to see the cloud himself and was never seen again.
I have used several divination spells to examine the cloud from a safe distance, and I am convinced that this is no natural wonder but is instead supernatural. I can't detect any living creatures within the cloud, but the cloud itself does not seem to be poisonous.
There are many different theories about the origins of the cloud, but I my favourite is that the cloud works as a magical snare to a pocket dimension, and that the cloud is a magical creation made by a creature of great power.
By current calculations, the cloud will reach land in about 130 years, if we can't find a way to stop it.
