Fuatha Dún

Fuatha Dún is a fortress within the Ceilic Region, under the control of Clan Laoc, at the border of the Ceilic Region. It is currently at the forefront of the Venatorian-Ceilic War. For the past three years, the fort has been propelling Venatorian attacks, though recently, the attacks have become more frequent and vicious.   Fuatha Dún stands strong at the moment, but all within Eregost know that this fortress shall fall. It is only a matter of when...

Demographics

Most within Fuatha Dún are now Ceilic warriors, under both obligation and oath to ensure that the fortress does not fall into enemy hands. Most Ceilics already had experience with wielding weaponry before the Venatorian Invasion, though many just used these weapons for hunting.   There is a large number of blacksmiths within Fuatha Dún, and their days are spent making and repairing weaponry for the warriors.   A large amount of druids have made their way to Fuatha Dún, in order to heal the wounded, restore the faith of the demoralized and slay as many legionnaires as possible with their ancient magic.   Fuatha Dún has a large amount of hunters, and they are desperately needed. Without these hunters, the Venatorians would have managed to starve the entire fortress years ago.

Government

Fuatha Dún is ruled by Chieftain Hugon Edanis. Hugon is known for two things: his love of battle and his insatiable greed. Before the Venatorian Invasion, he used to plunder lesser tribes and rule with an iron fist, but it seems that he is now focusing all his cruelty into his efforts against the Venatorian Legions.   Taxes are few all throughout the Ceilic Region, though in times of great need, they do tend to increase. In order to fund the security of this keep, its inhabitants are paying large sums of their money.

Defences

The wall of Fuatha Dún is incredibly heigh and strong, and is made from multiple layers of thick cobblestone. The wall itself has been covered in razor sharp thorn bushes, that were planted and manipulated by druids.   The warriors of Fuatha Dún may lack discipline, but they make up foor it in sheer savagery and bloodlust. Any Venatorian defeated in battle should not expect to be spared and taken prisoner. Many of the warriors understand the basics of druidic magic, and use that to their advantage.   Rangers stalk the forests outside Fuatha Dún, using a mixture of stealth, martial prowess and druidic magic to overpower their foes. They are skilled swordsmen and expert survivalists.   Druids can occasionally be seen on the battlefield, thoughrarely taking their true form. Venatorian soldiers all throughout the Ceilic Region have been terrified by stories of men truning into bears at will, or causing the trees themselves to strangle Venatorians. Druids are feared by the less experienced legionnaires, and with good reason.   Throughout the forests surrounding Fuatha Dún, there are many deathtraps, which can claim the lives of entire Venatorian patrols in an instant. From pitfalls to beartraps, no footstep taken within the wilderness near Fuatha Dún is without risk.

Architecture

The wall of Fuatha Dún is made of cobblestone, and is more than 15 meters tall. It was built by incredibly skilled stone masons over 800 years ago, and shows no sign of disrepair. The buildings inside the wall are made from oak and granite. Windows are made of a stained yellow glass from the sands of Endal Lake.

Geography

Fuatha Dún is a large fortress surrounded on all sides by woodland, with small lakes littering the landscape. Trees are typically oak, birch and ash, though ebony trees can also be found in the area. Thorn bushes are scattered across the area. Vines hang from the trees and lichen and moss cover practically every surface.
