Mental characteristics

Personal history

As a young king, Diomedes was one of the suitors of Helen, and he was one of many suitors swore an oath to protect the marraige of whoever Helen chose as her husband. When Helen chose Menelaus, Diomedes travelled home to Argos, thinking he would never be called to action due to the oath. His prediction ends up being false when Helen is kidnapped by Prince Paris of Troy, with the aid of Aphrodite.   Diomedes and the rest of the Acheaen Army made their way to Troy and gave the Trojans one chance to return Helen, which Troy refused to do. This kickstarted the Trojan War, which lasted for ten years. In the ninth year of the war, when Achilles refused to fight, the Acheaen Army began to lose to the Trojans. In order to counterbalance this, Athena blessed Diomedes, giving him eyes that could see through any illusion, even those created by gods, and enhancing his reflexes to a supernatural level. The only sign that he was any different was that his eyes when from blue to a shining, glowing silver.   Diomedes used these blessings to cut a bloody path through the Trojan forces, and to interfere with any gods that were helping the Trojans whilst in mortal disguises. It os said that he threw his spear into the shoulder of Aphrodite herself, but if this is an exaggeration or not remains unknown.   After the Trojan War ended, Diomedes sailed back home to Argos, where he rules to this day.

Mental Trauma

The ten years of constant battle have taken their toll on Diomedes, and he is now uncomfortable whenever a weapon is out of his reach. He even sleeps with his spear leaning against the wall of his bed chambers.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Diomedes has two motivations in life; to ensure that Argos prospers and to serve Athena whenever she asks something of him.   Diomedes has been strengthening the security within Argos, as he fears that if tensions between the Venatorian Empire and the rest of Eregost continue to escalate, he may not be able to stop Argos from falling before the might of the Venatorian Legions.   As the Champion of Athena, Diomedes feels that it is his duty to serve the interests of the Goddess of Strategy and Wisdom. He believes that if not for Athena, he would have died at Troy. He occasional performs small services for Athena as a thanks for the gift shee gave him.
