Brom Heironeous

Brom Heironeous Character Sheet   He was raised as an orphan in HaiFalls, The City of Mercy, by the church of Heironeous (Looked up in the D&D book Heironeous is the god of valor and that paladins worship him.) His last name is Heironeous because orphans raised by the church are all given Heironeous as their last name, they are considered the children of Heironeous.   Being raised by the nuns and priest of the church of Heironeous he was raised to uphold justice, valor, chivalry, and honor. Being a naturally large and strong from an early age the church placed him into paladin training as opposed to being a priest or other various members of the clergy. Being trained as a paladin he was trained to use all simple weapons, but being a child of Heironeous his favored weapon is the longsword (Looked up in the D&D book). Being trained as a paladin he is also familiar with horses and feels a special connection to them; he is well trained in mounted combat. The smell of a stinky stable is comforting to Brom having worked many hours in the stable. Being raised by the church as a child of Heironeous he was taught to read and had to read many sacred texts as part of his training. Since at the orphanage there wasn’t much to do outside of chores, training, and study he would end up reading a great deal in his free time from various books in the library. This has given him a fair amount of wisdom. Over time the head scribe (an old man) of the library took notice of Brom’s interest in reading and started recommending books to Brom.   Over the years Brom developed a friendship with the head scribe. The head scribe showed Brom how to repair old and worn books and even let Brom do touch up painting of various art work in some of the damaged pages of books. Brom was always naturally charismatic, but his acquired wisdom from reading and strength from combat training has given him confidence to be his natural charismatic self.   Being raised in an orphanage run by a church he does have a tendency to be quick to judge others. Being taught that the world is a dark and scary place and that he and his paladin order are needed to bring light and order to the world, he tends to view people who are not members of the church as morally inferior to himself. However, he is also quick to forgive due to being taught that people outside the church simply don’t know any better or that sometimes people are in dire circumstances and resort to law breaking to survive. For example, he would easily forgive a starving beggar for stealing bread, but he would want the beggar to atone for his crime by working for the baker, and of course confessing his crimes to the church.   Being an orphan he is sympathetic to the down trodden who have no one to turn to for help in life. He witnessed many times the church helping the homeless and destitute and considers himself essentially to be a beggar who has been blessed by the church and Heironeous to have purpose in life and the privileges he has received though the church such as his training, meals, and a place to call home. Being a paladin he detest all law breaking. He believes in upholding the law and helping the helpless. While he believes no one is without possible redemption for breaking the law so long as they pay for their crimes, he acknowledges that there is true evil out in the world that must be destroyed. Having gone on several journeys with fellow paladins he has witnessed various levels of crime and evil acts. He encountered those that are truly chaotically evil and had to be smited in order to protect the innocent.   Being caring and charismatic he tends to make friends easily and being a paladin most people tend to trust him. He is sentimental about his lightning bolt necklace he received when he completed his paladin training though the church of Heironeous.
