Session Report 74
General Summary
After defeating Vasled, the Muskrats continued their search for the princes. The Muskrats concluded their search of the massacred camp. The final search did not turn up any new information that was of use. The Muskrats continued following the trail of Vasled and reached a narrow rocky cliff path. A small camp with a wagon was found. Three flash frozen bodies were found and Sloan offered to speak with the deceased spirits to learn what happened. With the help of Dami, who cut off one of the frozen heads, Sloan interrogated the head but was unable to turn up any useful information except that a hag was the cause of their deaths. The party continued the treacherous journey into the mountains.
A few hours later the Muskrats found a small abandoned camp. When they started to investigate they were caught unaware when massive mounds of snow began to move. Snow giants had appeared. Giant snowballs began to crush the party and Sloan's eyes were filled with frosty snow. He could no longer and began to call out for his friends. Meanwhile, in the back Tazmeth was wondering why his friends were having a snowball fight since he could not see in the dark. Hidden in the darkness, a bheur hag was waiting. She flew towards the party unleashing cold magic that began to freeze the Muskrats. Itzal and Cambio were having none of the hag's shenanigans and unleashed powerful spell after powerful spell. Cambio's eldritch blast sent one of the snow giants off the cliffs of the mountains. Dami charged into the fray swinging her fiery axe and carving the snow giants apart. Cambio unleashed a wall of light that threatened to sever the snow giants in half. Thankfully for Tazmeth the wall of light provided the light he had desperately needed to see. Soon the encounter came to a close and the Muskrats continued their trek into the mountains.
Continuing down the trail the Muskrats found an illusion made of ice. An elven woman with a familiar voice started to speak to the party. It was Wynbella Ashbeam, one of the Six Beasts of the Lord of the Hunt, who the party had met in Gesvad. She urged to the party that she did not wish to fight them, but that she if she had to she would fight the Muskrats. Cambio's strong emotional intelligience allowed him to understand that Wynbella was willing to go to the lengths of fighting the Muskrats because if she did not then she would lose Pocket. Itzal's intricate knowledge of fey contracts provided the solution that finding another fey lord could takeover the contract. The Muskrats suggested the Snow Queen as an alternative fey lord to contract with. Wynbella agreed to the solution and the party began to head for the home of the Snow Queen in the Feywild: Grokehinn. While Wynbella led the party to a portal to the Snow Queen's domain, she shared some information regarding the remaining Beasts of the Lord of the Hunt's court. See the article regarding the Lord of the Hunt for information on his court's members. Upon finding a portal the Muskrats headed in to the Feywild.
The region of the Feywild that the Muskrats reached was called the Frozen Reach. The weather turned out to be extremely harsh. Temperatures were under -30 F and high winds that created a nearly unbearable wind chill. Mountain high snow drifts threatened capture anyone who dared traverse them. After about a hour of walking, the Muskrats were suddenly surrounded by blue skinned, white haired women: the ice maidens. Ice maidens were the followers of the Snow Queen and her most loyal servants. After sharing their intention the ice maidens offered to lead the Muskrats to Grokehinn and organize an audience with the Snow Queen. Upon reaching Grokehinn, the Muskrats were led to the throne room where they met the Snow Queen: a pale skinned elven woman. She was flanked by two frost giants and approached the party. The discussion that followed was a tense one. Itzal promptly disrespected the Snow Queen and she took one of his magic items as payment. After moving past the disrespect, the Snow Queen offered the help that the Muskrats had come to get: a cold-wrought iron weapon. The weapon came with a couple conditions. The Snow Queen wanted a certain ring back from the Lord of the Hunt. She explained to the Muskrats that they had to place the ring in a block of ice and it would return to her. She also wanted the item destroyed once the Lord of the Hunt was defeated. She also warned that the item could be destroyed by fire and that it was best to avoid contact with any heat. The Snow Queen also warned that the Lord of the Hunt's blood hags were extremely powerful and were known to steal faces and could wear them. When wearing a stolen face, a blood hag gains the personality and memories of the face's original owner. With that final bit of information given, the Muskrats returned to the Prime Material Plane and continued their search.
