Session Report 63
General Summary
The Muskrats resumed their time in Halvoy by speaking with Bron Icefall about various matters. His answers were closely guarded and the Muskrats were unable to learn much from him. They decided to venture out into the city to go shopping. Their shopping trip took them to the Bazaar of Stones, the largest market in Halvoy. During their shopping trip the Muskrats stopped at Ore Really, a blacksmith, in search of darts for Tazmeth. Their time in the shop would reveal numerous tidbits of information. First, they learned that that the Golden Lions were in the shop the day before and had bought supplies. Also, they had asked if anyone recognized the Muskrats. The Muskrats also learned that the Blades of Purity had placed a large order for weapons and armor. Enough to equip a small army. The Muskrats decided to stake out the shop until the Blades returned to pick up the shipment. They worked in shifts for nearly a week but did not see the Blades return.
The time had arrived for the Muskrats to have their audiences with the kings of Hammerhide. The Muskrats headed to the Keep of Three Hammers. The Keep sat a top a nearly five hundred foot high plateau that towered over the city and was accessible by lift only. The Muskrats used the lift to reach the Keep and during their ascent saw many magical runes carved into the rock of the plateau and the Keep itself. Upon reaching the top the Muskrats were led to the Hall of the Diverging Skies. The Hall was flanked by tall golden tinted windows that filtered light into the Hall. The throne was constructed from three massive hammers that were taken from Giants when they were overthrown. The Muskrats were finally called by King Gustav Schwerer the III, Lord of Diverging Skies, to speak. All the individuals attending the court were ordered to leave and mages began to cast various spells such antimagic and anti-scrying spells to prevent anyone from spying on the conversation.
King Gustav the III, was a man in his early fifties and was of a massive stature. Some said he must carry the blood of giants in him because no human could be so large naturally. He wore a full set of armor for the audience that was a rust like red. The Muskrats and King Gustav the III started their audience by discussing Tritemeus. King Gustav the III was frank that Hammerhide had little to offer to deal with Tritemeus. The Icefall family had already failed to deal with Tritemeus and Hammerhide did not have a more powerful weapon to use. Tritemeus had even visited Hammerhide and made it clear that he had no intention of harming Hammerhide, and that he only wished to overthrow the Achivelli. This goal was one that King Gustav the III agreed with because he once disobeyed the Achivelli and they murdered all of his siblings as retaliation. He desired to no longer live under their oppressive rule. Despite King Gustav the III's opposition to working with the Muskrats against Tritemeus, Cambio was able to convince him to provide some legitimacy behind their attempt to build a coalition against Tritemeus.
King Gustav the III agreed to host a summit to form a coalition against Tritemeus but the Muskrats had to deal with the Bastard's Court at Wave's End. The Bastard's Court had been raiding Hammerhide ships and capturing people along the coast. Agents of Hammerhide had found these captured people in the slave markets of Wulkan. King Gustav the III wanted this practice to be put to an end. King Gustav the III did not care if the Muskrats killed the leadership of Bastard's Court or bribed them to raid somewhere. The conversation then shifted to the subject of the First Kingdom. King Gustav the III revealed that his discussion of the First Kingdom many years ago is what caused the death of his siblings. He explained that the Morrand Alliance was formed because one of the nobles in the predecessor to the Alliance, the Free Kings of Drasdorden, were inquiring into the First Kingdom. King Gustav the III was unaware of what fate befell that noble and his family. With no other topics to discuss the Muskrats left the Keep of Three Hammers and proceeded to meet with Chief Benrom Bukehin the Boulderbleeder, Lord of the Convering Earth.
Chief Benrom resided in a location known as the Palace of Gems deep below Halvoy. The Palace of Gems was located in the Mantle, a massive cavern underneath Halvoy where most of the dwarves in the city lived. The Palace itself was constructed entirely out of massive gems that were looted from the dwarves former giant overlords. The throne room where Chief Benrom held the audience was known as the Heart of Diamonds. The Heart was a massive multi tiered chamber constructed entirely out of magically infused diamonds. Chief Benrom himself was gruff with the Muskrats. He chose who was allowed to speak with him and was short with them. He showed little concern over the troubles that King Gustav the III faced and had no fear of giants returning. Chief Benrom did care about the theft of his new favorite alcohol that the pirates of the Bastard's Court had been stealing from him. He simply wanted the alcohol to be returned to him. The conversation shifted to King Gustav the III and Chief Benrom revealed that shortly before Gustav's siblings decide he received a human child from the west and then hid him somewhere west of Halvoy. Chief Benrom had little else to share because to be frank he did not care.
The Muskrats departed and prepared for their boat ride to Wave's End. They met Captain Kezit Zebima of the Stone's Edge. Kezit appointed Chev as the man in charge of the defense of the ship. After a couple hours on the ship, enemy ships suddenly materialized around the ship. Upon closer inspection the Muskrats realized that the ships themselves were alive as each ship had eyes and a mouth full of sharp teeth. Did the Muskrats survive or did meet their end at the sail of a carnivorous ship?
