Session Report 55

General Summary

The Muskrats had finally arrived at the Incubator. The Muskrats, disguised as slaves, were met with two salamanders. A battle promptly began between the two forces. Chev and Itzal were still posing as slaves and without their gear were struggling against the salamanders. As the battle continued to rage on the Muskrats could hear the sounds of battle in the distance. Itzal could overhear the salamanders shouting about intruders, but they were not talking about the Muskrats but rather some other force that was assaulting the Incubator. After defeating the salamander duo the Muskrats discovered that spined devils were attacking the Incubator. The spined devils, however, posed no threat to the Muskrats and were quickly dispatched. Why were the servants of Asmodeus attacking the Incubator? Were they after Chev?
The Muskrats then set about accomplishing the goal that they had come to the Incubator to achieve: destruction of the primordial salamander eggs. The Muskrats set about destroying the eggs. Itzal directed the Muskrats to also destroy the magical crystals in the area. The crystals provided power to the rift to the plane of fire, but as the Muskrats destroyed the crystals Itzal realized that the crystals were powering a second rift. Where did the second rift lead to? Choosing to not take a moment to ponder the question, the Muskrats pushed further into the Incubator. 
Entering into a new section of the Incubator, the Muskrats came face to face with with a giant and a devilish knight who was attacking the Incubator. The devilish knight shouted at Chev to inform him Asmodeus sent him to hunt Chev down and to return him to Asmodeus. A grueling battle between the three groups began. The Muskrats quickly found themselves backed into a corner as both groups charged them. Cambio unleashed the full power of the eldritch energy bestowed to him by Malar. His enemies were cut down quickly as his eldritch blasts cut them down. As the Muskrats took cover from the hellfire blasts of the knight, the knight claimed the souls of two captives in the chamber and used the soul to heal himself. After healing, the knight charged to Chev to try and claim him for his Lord. The knight unleashed a barrage of strikes against Chev. However, Chev fueled with the power of haste from Itzal was able to fend off the attacks of the knight. The Muskrats took advantage of the knight charging in and landed a barrage of strikes upon the knight. As the Muskrats were about to to fell the knight, he opened a planar rift and escaped. After investigating the rift, Itzal determined that the rift led to Maladomini, the 7th layer of hell. A trace of magic could be felt flowing from the rift towards Chev indicating that the knight was tracking Chev through magical means. The Muskrats continued the destruction of the primordial salamander eggs and looted the area as they prepared to continue their journey deeper into the Incubator.
