Session Report 37
General Summary
Three days after defeating the wretched mass of flesh and nearly escaping the realm of death, the Muskrats were once again on the road again. This time, they were traveling to the city of Wulkan following their next lead. However, as the first few days of travel went on, Sauvek developed a heavy fever. Whether he was truly sick, still distraught from wall of flesh nearly killing him, or just being a little bitch, he was too exhausted to continue. Itzal, Shade, and Zonraven decided to set up temporary camp to guard and tend to Suavek as he fell into a temporary coma. Tev and Cambio volunteered to continue down the road. In truth, Cambio wanted to get closer Wulkan; He needed to. The city called to him. As for Tev, Tev had has own agenda that also drew him towards Wulkan.
Tev and Cambio set off and after a few days journey northeast, they arrived at a humble village named Lost Way. Arriving at night, they entered straight into the local inn, the Dish & Fox. Here the two Muskrats put up their feet and mingled with the locals. Given that Tev and Cambio were the two least off-putting muskrats as well as arguably the most socially adept compared to the rest of group, they were quick to find out about the settlement’s recent troubles. In the settlement of Lost Way, there is the largest graveyard of the region with thousands upon thousands of graves. Recently, there have been graves that have been dug up and looted. The strange thing though is that the graves that had been vandalized had no similarities between one another. The bodies were of all different ages of decomposition, sizes, race while also containing very little treasure for the typical grave robber. Tev and Cambio investigated these graves but could not find any lead that could help the town. Seeing that they could do little to help they returned to their rooms in the Inn and fell asleep.
In the morning, before leaving town to continue their journey, Tev and Cambio visited the the town’s Earl, or rather the Earl’s assistant Nevias Fernsurge. As a typical tiny gnome, the gnome provided great guidance to the two muskrats along with a letter that would grant them a visitation right to the Earl when they saw him next. At least that’s how Cambio perceived it. Cambio was still waking up from his slumber and did not have his ritual herbal morning tea yet. Next the two visited the town’s temple, a Temple of Kelemvor, the Lord of the Dead and Judge of the Damned. Despite the claims of the town’s commonfolk, who were against the existence of the temple, the two muskrats only found hospitality as they quickly made friends with the temple’s head priest, Adfir. As the other muskrats make their way through town, or if Tev and Cambio were ever to return, they would have at the Temple of Kelemvor.
Departing from Lost Way, Cambio and Tev quickly found themselves in trouble. A large group of bandits attempted to ambush the two Muskrats. Cambio and Tev, no stranger to combat, quickly and confidently retaliated against the bandits. On an individual level, the bandits were easy to dispose of, but as a unit they showed to be a greater threat to Cambio and Tev than expected. The bandits shouted that their leader, Neagan, would slice the two muskrats up, and that Neagan did try. But Tev’s sword worked much faster, slicing the bandits up quickly as Cambio’s spells disposed of the archers. The two muskrats fought heroically against the 20 or so bandits and nearly fell to them in battle. But luck was on their side that day as the bandit bowmen ran out of arrows to use. With their ammunition depleted and Cambio and Tev’s eldritch blast being near infinite, the surviving bandits surrendered as their bloodied leader, Neagan, fled into the bush. Cambio, who had enough arrows sticking in him to make a porcupine jealous, and Tev stood triumphally over their new prisoners and potentially muskrat recruits.
