Session Report 36

General Summary

Departing from the former estate of Baron Emberly Ironstone, the Muskrats headed north towards Wulkan. The near two week journey was filled with various interesting encounters. During one of his night long watches, Sauvek met a wandering halfling woodsman. Describing himself as a conversationalist, he engaged Sauvek in a long and twisting discussion. He spoke of various topics such as the best inn in the area, the way he died six hundred years ago, or how his Tortle friend once sacrificed himself for him. Proving to be most unfriendly, Sauvek refused to engage in much conversation with the woodsman. Finding himself an unwelcomed guest, the woodsman packed up his wine and cheese, and continued on his way. 
Later during the journey, the Muskrats would stumble upon a roadside camp. As they approached to find who was camping along the Axe Road, the Muskrats found themselves surrounded by Shambling Mounds. As the attack began, the Muskrats could hear screaming. Promptly, these screams became muffled. In a show of their absolute might, the Muskrats swiftly dispatched the Shambling Mounds and discovered that a Tiefling had been swallowed whole by one of the Shambling Mounds. 
Upon closer inspection, the Muskrats discovered that the Tiefling was none other than Kilakas Zypher, a former acquaitance of the party. Having become separated from the Muskrats in Barenstadt, the party had all but forgotten of Kilakas. To the surprise to rest of the group, it was discovered that Kilakas and Tev were close childhood friends. Kilakas informed Tev of serious issues plaguing a group that the two referred to as "The Organization." According to Kilakas, it appeared that the "The Organization" may be approaching a civil war of sorts. 
Caring little for the conversation, Zonraven announced his intention to kill Kilakas. This strong intention was founded on nothing but ancestry and race. Showing his dark side, Zonraven stated his desire to exterminate any creatures who carries any trace of fiendish blood, and would not stop until his mission had been completed. Kilakas having little tolerance for the absurd zeal displayed by Zonraven accepted a duel with the paladin. Kilakas as the heir to House Vassa of Vladdingmore unleashed the ful extent of his resources for the duel. Pulling a scroll from his bag, he shouted at Zonraven, "Begone." With a single word, Zonraven collapsed dead. Having great remorse and pity for the misguided, Kilakas pulled a second scroll from his pouch and resurrected Zonraven. However, the overzealous lack the capacity to feel or express gratitude. As Zonraven awoke, he raised his blade and attempted to slay Kilakas again. Unleashing a third scroll, Kilakas disappearred in a massive fireball, but not before yelling to Tev to meet him in Wulkan at the Estate of House Vassa in the Spires. The Muskrats picked up their nearly twice killed paladin, and continued towards Lost Way and Wulkan.
