Session Report 33

General Summary

The Muskrats paused to mourn the passing of Kelgac at the hands of the Bheur Hags. With the defeat of the Bheur Hags, the blizzard over the valley cleared. The Muskrats would meet up with Wynbella Ashbeam and Pocket. Making good on her promise, Wynbella showed the Muskrats a hidden natural path. One moment the Muskrats were in a frost and snow covered mountain valley, and the next they were standing in a hot, humid tropical jungle. This drastic change was achieved with nothing but some magical chanting and clearing frost covered vines from a rocky wall.    Traversing the jungle path would prove to be treacherous for the Muskrats. Wynbella warned the party to never stray from the path because of the danger that the path may never be found again. In the first day of travel, the Muskrats met an overzealous Paladin of Helm named Zonraven Drellasi. The Aasimar claimed that he had been pursuing the lichkin Kelgac, suspecting that he attacked his village. The Muskrats share the news that Kelgac died, absolving Zonraven of his goal of hunting the lichkin down. Having become lost in this magical jungle, Zonraven makes the choice to accompany the Muskrats until they exit the jungle. Before their exit, Sauvek would have his Flametongue be stolen by a group of Grappler Gorillas. Some say that a grand kingdom of Grappler Gorillas has grown around the owner of the Flametongue. He, who wields the flame, holds the throne.    Upon their exit from the magical jungle, the Muskrats found themselves on a high mountain road that branches off the Axe Road. Looking down the mountain road, the Muskrats see the vibrant colors of the Fire Woods. Reds, yellows, oranges, and the occasional green of a pine forms a near unending forest. The party would make their way down the road until reaching the Axe Road, where the party would encounter a large band of adventurers heading south to Port Vertel. The Muskrats were brought into the camp by a Firbolg woman named Zinnala. In a brief discussion with Zinnala, the Muskrats learned that a civil war in the Morrand Alliance has broken out and that the band of adventurers that Zinnala is part of is making their way there to join in the fighting as mercenaries. Zinnala also recounted the gruesome tale of her former adventuring party the Autumn Leaves. They traveled to the former estate of Baron Emberly Ironstone, where it is suspected that a necromancer has taken over. There her comrades, except for her husband Bertel, met their end at the hands of undead. The Muskrats learn that House Vassa is offering up to 5,000 gold for each party member of an adventuring party of seven or less who clear the estate of the undead.    The Muskrats would have many antics in this camp before leaving the next morning. Tev would embark on a drug buying spree. He would conscript a human merchant, Fell Thornton, into traveling to Port Vertel to inform that the Muskrats are traveling north to the estate of Baron Emberly Ironstone. Using some of the drugs he bought, Tev drugged Cambio. Cambio experiencing one of the greatest highs of his life would face the greatest low of his life when he awoke next to a burly half-orc woman. The half-orc woman yearning for a life of love with Cambio scared Cambio away with the Changeling using his shapeshifting power to flee.    The party would depart from the adventuring camp and head north towards the estate, while the adventuring band headed south. As the party progressed north they would see the weather change with thick banks of fog settling in the Fire Woods. Heading towards the estate the party found a skeleton dressed as a jester. The Grim Jester was in the process of collecting tolls from any adventurers who dared to travel towards the estate. A short time before the Muskrats arrived, a garlicle had passed by muttering about revenge. Zonraven threatening Grim Jester with death scared the Grim Jester off into the forest and the Muskrats continued towards the estate. They would be stopped as they found themselves surrounded by three Weeping Treants. After a quick skirmish, the Muskrats had felled the Treants, dispatching the henchmen of the garlicle. After a quick rest, the Muskrats continued forward.
