Session Report 3

General Summary

With the near-deadly encounter with the kobolds over, the group continued exploring the cave looking for treasure. Although, most everything was filled with fruits and stomach-churning alcohol which RedTail managed to get down. Sauvek also managed to make a miraculous return to the group after being petrified. There were two interesting things the group found, though. The first was the corpse of a boy, Jimmy, stuffed into a barrel. He was the son of the lady with the rolling pin the group encountered on the way to the kobold encampment. The second, and definitely more impactful find, pertained to Kelgac. A mysterious and magical face flew out of a crate, and after flying in the air for a bit, came to reside on Kelgac's face thus hiding his ghastly appearance from those who don't look too hard.   The battered adventuring party then left the cave with over 20 kobold heads and one particularly large head being carried by Cambio. RedTail was also carrying Jimmy's body to return it to the old woman. As expected, the woman with the rolling pin was still standing on the side of the road close to Galddinggod. To say she was upset by the news of her son's passing would be an understatement, and RedTail only seemed to escalate the event by taking her rolling pin. And after being offered a sizable chunk of farmland by the woman that the group by no means could afford, they parted ways from her and headed into town.   The group received their money for killing the kobolds and turning in their heads. Now jobless, the group heads for the tavern for some well-deserved rest and drinks. RedTail takes this opportunity to wind down with a pleasant song that the rest of the tavern patrons do not appreciate. While at the bar, Zasha is alerted to an interesting man sitting at a table by the bartender. Zasha, being the smooth operator she is, sends this stranger a very expensive drink and heads over to speak to him with Sam Urai. The stranger's name is Daimler Bauman, a collector of rare goods and craftsman of magical items. He is particularly interested in Sam Urai since he is a warforged, and points out initials carved into the back of his neck which may mark his impending doom as warforged with those initials are being hunted down. Daimler wished to hire the group as a long-term partner. In exchange for magical goods and money, the group would retrieve hard-to-get items out in the field. They accepted.   The first job Daimler tasked them with was to get the poison sack from a millitaur and bring it to him in a city north of Gladdinggod, Gormond. There are supposedly millitaurs living in some caves in the forest north of Galddinggod, so that is where the group heads off to in the morning.   Before they can reach the millitaur, the group encounters a young girl running towards them from the woods claiming to be chased by a bear. Sam Urai speaks with the girl, and while he believes her words, he remains suspicious of the situation. His suspicions are proved right as it turned out to be an ambush with the young girl as the lure. Several armed men were hiding in the woods with a tougher-looking man with a shield blocking the path up ahead. However, this group of bandits proved no match for this adventuring party who quickly dispatched the thieves with no serious trouble. Cambio, however, suffered major sanity damage after completely annihilating the young girl into a pile of ash and blood with an eldrich blast. After inspecting the dead bodies, the bandits all appeared to be siblings.   The party ventured forth into the woods and eventually came across a cave which they entered in search of a millitaur. The front section of the cave opened up to a giant pit with skeletons at the bottom and a river on the far side with more cave lying beyond. Out of the darkness, a Drow popped out, and after quickly disappearing, a millitaur appeared and started the fight. His hard exoskeleton proved to be difficult to break through with physical attacks leaving Sauvek and Sam Urai useless. Kelgac and Itzal also did not appear for this fight weakening the group's firepower. It was up to Cambio and Zasha to deal the damage while RedTail scrambled trying to keep himself and the party alive. Fortunately, the millitaur's mind is seized by a command to drop its weapons and to roll around in a fit of laughter leaving it harmless. This would spell victory for the party if it weren't for a second millitaur creeping in the shadows on the opposite side to ambush Cambio.   The horror. It is unknown what training a millitaur must go through to wield an axe as this one did on that day. It was clear he was a master of his art as his attacks consistently struck true with devastating damage leaving nearly the entire party dead on the cold floor. Thanks to Zasha and RedTail's efforts, the group survived on the brink of death. Even though the first millitaur had died, the fight was no easier as long as this champion of millitaurs stood. Cambio proved his might by throwing ferociously attacking the beast with magic to get past his armor. The others tried their best to take the hits to spare the mages which only left them bloodied on the floor. With one final hit by Cambio, the millitaur fell, and the world would have one less king of beasts to worry about. The party was healed and the poison sacks were retrieved but no before the Drow reappeared and ran on the surface of the river deeper into the cave. The group promptly ignored this and left as most of them were nearly dead and wanting of a long rest.
