Session Report 23

General Summary

The towering statutes of the Altar of the Faceless One loomed in the distance as the surviving Muskrats of Itzal, Cambio, and Sam Urai approached with their new friend, Kilakas Zypher, in tow. Other Muskrats such as Kelgac and Shade had not been seen by the party in many weeks and are presumed to have perished or deserted the party. Kilakas led the party through the the mountain trail leading to the Altar. Along the way, the party found a survivor of the creature that has been stalking Brondheim and devouring the blood of those who live in the land. There a human man with shriveled legs devoid of blood lays slumped along the side of the trail. There the Muskrats met Marty. Cambio takes great interest in Marty as he learns of Marty's worship of Malar. Here the party learns that Marty's husband Skewhur, another worshipper of Malar, remains in Barenstadt and that the two of them have ventured to Brondheim in search of revenge for Skewhur. The party taken aback by the progressive relationship of a male orc and male human, take a moment to ponder the social implications of this knowledge. In his final moments, Marty asked Cambio to deliver his sword to Skewhur to inform him of his death. Upon his death, Cambio rummaged through Marty's pockets and discover a single note with the name "Tritemeus" scribbled on it.    Upon reaching the stop of the Altar, the party came face to face with the Dollmaker now sporting a mechanical, a mechanical brace for his leg, and a metal faceplate. Resting on a large pedestal, War Rior, the massive black warforged stands prepared for battle. Mongo, Cambio's father, and K.B., Sam Urai's master, remained trapped inside the chest of War Rior. The battle started with a test of brawn between War Rior and Sam Urai. Finding himself in a dangerous spot and close to death, Sam Urai unleashed the power of the Windmaker to slice through the metallic armor of War Rior. Cambio finding himself engaged with the Dollmaker and once again being a source of frustration for him nearly found himself facing an incredibly strong blast of freezing cold air and ice. Acting with extreme speed, Itzal and Cambio used their magical prowess to block the freezing cold magical power unleashed by the Dollmaker. Avoiding the cold energy, Cambio unleashed an explosive blast of thunderous energy that rocked the Dollmaker nearly knocking him unconscious.    With the battle reaching a decisive point, War Rior rushed to the altar and upon reaching the altar, Mongo and K.B. were teleported to a floating position above two other altars. The Dollmaker promptly followed them and turned him over to the red magical energy that now envelops all three of them. The three disappeared and a bright red magical energy wrapped around War Rior and suddenly, he grew rapidly in size and a dark and ominous energy began to radiate off of him. Using the full might of the Windmaker, Sam Urai unleashed a fury of magical slashed of wind that tore metallic body of War Rior to shreds and he fell. The last of his energy stored within a massive explosive device within his chest. Fearing for the safety of his companions, Sam Urai tore into the body of War Rior and ripped the explosive device free. Charging off the Altar and plummeting hundreds of feet to the ground, a massive explosion rocked the valley below. A nearly five hundred foot area of trees were leveled and charred. A large plume of green smoke marked the final resting place of the beloved Muskrat fighter, Sam Urai. Left in mourning, Itzal and Cambio continued their journey much like they had before meeting the other Muskrats: together.
