Session Report 110

General Summary

The Muskrats faced a difficult choice when they entered the Alabaster Halls. On a small podium, there were four small glowing, blue potions. A small note informed the Muskrats that the potions were Potions of Future Self. After a moment of hesitancy, the Muskrats began to chug the potions. Each suddenly felt as if they were falling into a deep pool of water. Each of them saw small silver threads connecting to their bodies. In each thread, the Muskrats experienced a specific future that their lives could possibly take. As each Muskrat fell further into the water, the threads began to rapidly tear away, leaving only four for each Muskrat. Each thread represented a future of each Muskrat where they obtained substantial power. Each Muskrat latched on to a specific future that they believed was best for them and obtained a small bit of power that their future self possessed.    After drinking the Potion of Future Self, the Muskrats were greeted by Kilthis an Zerran, the ultroloth from the Hall of Exchange. Dami immediately asked what the Potion of Future Self was and how it was made. Kilthis explained that it was made by feeding Threads of Fate to a Fateweaver and brew the potion from the excrement of the Fateweaver. Kilthis explained that the potions are quite difficult to produce and that the Queen hoped that the potions would show her desire to work together. Kilthis led the Muskrats through the Alabaster Halls. As they passed through the Halls, the Muskrats saw bookshelves that were twenty, thirty, or even forty feet tall. The Muskrats reached a large, central atrium that required the party to walk down a long flight of stairs.    Standing at the bottom of the stairs on a massive throne was a gargantuan, white dragon wearing a pair of golden spectacles on her case. Multi colored, chromatic scales ran down either side of her neck. She introduced herself as Kiennavalyriss, the Keeper of Secrets, and Queen of the Alabaster Halls and Flumina. She coongratulated the Muskrats on braving the journey to see her. Kiennavalryiss asked whether the Muskrats had any questions for her. Tazmeth asked how to escape his contract with Mayathangi, and Dami asked questions about Mephistopheles and the Swords of Kailius. Kiennavalryiss could only question why the Muskrats had so many questions regarding devils and why she invited this group to the Halls. Itzal finally changed the topic by asking about the Achivelli and Illaloth. As a fellow scholar, Kiennavalyriss could not pass up on the opportunity to tell a long story regarding her past.    Kiennavalryiss explained that she has maintained the Alabaster Halls since the beginning of the First Era as a means to preserve information and protect from censorship, namely by the Achivelli. She has maintained a close court that consists of Kilthis an Zerran, Quonog or his true name, Yon Yeppo, and finally, Cornelius Vanderwallen. Each of them have helped her maintain, acquire, and organize information in the Halls. Another important function of the Halls is magical research. Kiennavalyriss was a Chosen of Mystra and with the aid of her court members she has worked to push the boundaries of the Weave. She had an interest in magic and history from her birth. Her mother the Shimmering Queen was as close to draconic royalty as one could go and her father was a now forgotten God of Knowlege. Her powerful pedigree and divinity made her a standout to Mystra and a prime candidate to serve as one of her Chosen. Unfortunately, her body can not handle the divine blood and slowly was breaking her body down. Despite her incredibly long life, she has spent nearly the entirety of it in the Halls. She had to retreat the Halls after the Achivelli slaughtered the dragons. Now her single goal was to defeat the Achivelli no matter the cost.    Kiennavalryiss shared the full tale of the Achivelli to the Muskrats. Illaloth was born before the First Era, a time now forgotten to most. She was raised by a mystical elven enclave known as Eldrimara, who were dedicated to preserving ancient knowledge. As a young elf, Illaloth was a prodigy in both her magical and martial studies. She caught the attention of Draconis Ardentum, a group of elves who had mastered dragon bonding. Seraphina Shadowsong, the leader of Draconis Ardentum took Illaloth under her tutelage so that Illaloth could realize her full potential. After a short time, Seraphina determined that Illaloth was prepared to bond with a dragon. Illaloth bonded to the newly hatched golden dragon, Aurelian. As Illaloth delved deeper into the teachings of Draconis Ardentum, she began to question the order’s purpose. Their goal was to achieve peace between humanoids and dragons through bonding. Under the teachings of Seraphina and the order, it was the duty of humanoids, specifically, elves to achieve peace with dragons. Illaloth wondered why the grand burden of achieving peace with dragons fell to her people rather the gods who wielded tremendous power. Why with all the power that they wielded did they not intervene to save lives? Discontented with the teachings of Seraphina and the order, Illaloth began to gather like minded individuals who desired radical change and the Achivelli was born.   Illaloth dreamed of a world free from divine intervention but rather a strict natural law powered by magic that could be enforced upon any being. Illaloth despised the gods not only for not intervening to help mortals, but also that discrimination existed when they chose to help and that their help was subject to the same whims of mortals. Illaloth could not achieve this goal within the confines of Seraphina’s teachings and looked for a more radical measure. To achieve her goal, Illaloth first had to take cement the control of the Achivelli over dragons. Illaloth and the Achivelli obtained powerful positions within Draconis Ardentum and swayed others to their side. Then in a carefully orchestrated coup, Illaloth and the Achivelli, confronted Seraphina and her black dragon, Zinordor, in a moment of spectacular betrayal. Illaloth not only killed the woman who had essentially raised and nurtured her, but also raised both Seraphina and Zinordor as lich and dracolich, bound to her service for eternity. Illaloth wished for them to watch her achieve what their misguided ideals could never lead achieve.   With the Draconis Ardentum overthrown, the remaining members folded into the Achivelli. Illaloth’s leadership marked a stark contrast to that of Seraphina. She adopted an aggressive stance towards achieving balance and equity as she saw it. She used the dragons that once represented harmony with elves to become tools of power to enforce her vision. After defeating Seraphina, Illaloth swayed wild dragons to her side and convinced them to turn on their brethren leading to the destruction and subjugation of the remaining dragons. Few escaped. Illaloth and the other members of the Achivelli then formed the Ethereal Bastion, a massive fort in the Astral Sea to operate from.   After cementing the power of the Achivelli, Illaloth moved forward with her plan. She forged alliances with powerful gods to maintain the status quo, or in other words their power. She did this to instill complacency among the gods. Next, she focused on growing the power of the order and carefully influencing the events of the world. Slowly Illaloth began to delegate to other members of the Achivelli to carry out her will. Illaloth and Aurelian began to labor over how to defeat the gods. In short time she discovered the Godslayer and the horns necessary to activate it. The Horn of Awakening was narrowly snatched out of her grasps by Vashnaya and hidden in the Oubliette of Magmarath Caldera until Tritemeus was tricked by Illaloth into activating the horn. The Horn of Control was discovered hidden within an Astral Dreadnought.    Kiennavalyriss explained that the Horn of Slumer was in a location known as a spatial confluence. These locations are extremely rare and are nearly inaccessible except for under very narrow circumstances. The Alabaster Halls was an example of a spatial confluence that can only be accessed on a solistice. A spatial confluence is often tied to a powerful magic item that can collapse when the item is disturbed. Kiennavalyriss gave the Muskrats a special magical orb, that on the first of the new year would activate and allow them to access the spatial confluence where the Horn of Slumber was held. The Muskrats would have to race to the center of the spatial confluence to stop Illaloth from obtaining the Horn of Slumer and cutting off the Muskrat's only opportunity to stop the Godslayer. With that last bit of information, the Muskrats were finally given an opportunity to rest before Cambio's big day.    After taking some time to rest, the Muskrats raced to Halvoy for Cambio's wedding to Vifrima Blackflame, a member of a noble family in Hammerhide. Upon arriving the Muskrats were quickly ushered to changing rooms to prepare for the wedding. While they prepared, Vodrick Blackflame, the leader of the Blackflame family, stopped by to meet and speak to Cambio. While there, he impressed upon Cambio that he was happy he was joining the family and that if weapons were ever needed in the Feywild that Cambio should contact him. Once the wedding started, Cambio noticed some suspicious individuals in the back of the crowd that looked eerily like Mongo, Tritemeus, Malar, and the Snow Queen. After the beautiful ceremony, a fun game of two truths and lie were played and Itzal gave a somewhat uninspired speech that the crowd reacted to well due to the abundance of alcohol that had been served. With the ceremony, Cambio and Vifrima left for a honeymoon, while the other Muskrats began to prepare for the upcoming political summit and the war to claim the Horn of Slumber.
