Session Report 106

General Summary

Each of the Muskrats popped a potion of water breathing to prepare for their dive. Itzal harnessed the power of his magic to illuminate each of the Muskrats. With their preparations made, they bid farewell to Wuzal and dove into the lake. The descent to the bottom took nearly thirty minutes. Upoon reaching the bottom, the Muskrats found a landscape of brilliant coral reefs, aquatic plant life, and marine life. Then from beyond the safety of their light came the sound of music. It was faint but it called to the Muskrats to lead them somewhere. Remembering the hints they had received, the Muskrats followed the music. After a short travel, Cambio saw in the distance what appeared to be a massive underwater organ. The pipes consisted of coral and black smoke intermittenly spewed from the various pipes as the music played. As the Muskrats drew closer they realized that the tales of horrifying creatures at the center of the lake was true. A dozen drakes appeared, exiting from their hiding places among the coral.    The drakes began to swarm around the Muskrats and cut off any path they had towards the organ. The Muskrats soon identified both types of drakes. The smaller of the two were coral drakes, known for the ability to inflate a sac on their throat and fire them as projectiles at their enemies. This attack could also blind their enemies that all the Muskrats soon discovered. The larger of the two drakes were riptide drakes that had the power to manipulate water and fire it at high speeds underwater. As the battle began, the Muskrats realized that fighting underwater posed unique challenges that they were not prepared for. It was difficult to traverse the battlefield and swinging weapons proved to be especially difficult. Cambio unleashed the full extent of his power by casting psychic scream and a couple of the drakes had their heads suddenly explode. The remainder were stunned. The Muskrats been to charge forward to reach the organ. As they pushed farther the Muskrats saw more drakes approaching. It appeared the battle was not yet over.    As Itzal and Cambio approached, they were both struck by the coral drakes. Their little babies striking their eyes and inducing blindness. Cambio collapsed into the stool by the organ and began to play his heart out. The Muskrats were shocked at the skill Cambio demonstrated despite being blind. They were nearly moved to tears underwater but no one would notice their tears because they were underwater. The Muskrats struggled to defend Cambio while he played. Itzal found himself blind from the drakes and disoriented by the blasts of high speed water that the riptide drakes continued to fire at. He was forced to transform himself into a dragon turtle, not once, but twice as he faced down the large groups of enemies. Relentlessly, the drakes tore at Itzal until he was forced to shift back to his normal form. In the midst of Cambio's concert, Counter Saval, who was struggling to reach Cambio in his heavy armor was swarmed by the drakes and once his blood hit the water the feeding frenzy did not stop. Moments later Cambio heard the sizzling of fire underwater as the contract he forged with the Timekeeper for Counter Saval's soul was completed and Counter Saval's soul was delivered to the Timekeeper.    With the final cresendo of the organ, Cambio heard a clicking noise and suddenly the stool he sat on opened up revealing a tunnel. He traveled through and Dami came close behind. The drakes continued to tear Itzal apart and the tortle mage who had survived so much was beginning to doubt his ability to survive. Dami rushed over and began to clear a path for Itzal to escape from. With her help the two were able to tumble down the hole behind Cambio and continue their journey to find Quonog.
