Gesvad
A lone town who swore allegiance to the king of another land.
Gesvad lays in a small valley rich with ore. Various mines dot the valley. Gesvad is at the southern end of the valley. There are entrances to the valley on both the west and east sides, but these passes are often filled with snow when winter hits. There is a northern trail that continues through the mountains but is rarely ever traveled by anyone. An ancient barrow stands crumbling on the southeastern edge of the valley.
Gesvad lies in the border of Brondheim, but rather than submit to the will of the Bear King, the city has instead swore allegiance to Vladdingmore. Duke Faldak Truehands, a halfling male, is the lord of Gesvad and his family has ruled the town for over a hundred. The Truehands won lordship of the city in a bet over whether they could juggle ten balls at once. The lord at the time accepted, and promptly lost the bet and his town.
Gesvad is known for being one of the few settlements in the Kjempe Peaks. The town serves two purposes, first, being that the town serves an as important trade stop for those daring to cross the Peaks. Second, Gesvad is an important location for mining due to the presence of the Blackbleeder family, a dwarven family of miners, and smiths who have spent centuries mining the upper Peaks.
The primary location for people to gather and enjoy themselves in Gesvad is the Jealous Carrot Pub. With little to do in the harsh Upper Peaks, the Jealous Carrot Pub is the prime location for entertainment. Liahana and Pacan Luckyfoot own the Jealous Carrot Pub. The Pub has nightly musical entertainment provided by Rasbar Wobblefeet, a male gnome.
The Highfrost Keep is where Faldak Truehands resides. He and has family hold an annual banquet to celebrate the mid-spring thaw when the mountain passes once again open up.
The town of Gesvad has currently suffered significant tragedies. Three human women have gone missing in the last two weeks. Aurora Jenks, Eveline Sorkel, and Alsatia Morrow have all disappeared. The Duke and his guard have been unable to investigate because within hours of Aurora Jenks going missing a massive blizzard hit the town. The weather this winter has proven to be the harshest that any can remember. Even recorded history, according to Thurmond Tyran, the Court Wizard, fails to point to a winter that is harsher than this year. The frigid temperatures and massive blizzards have sealed the roads to the town off. Much of the blame is currently focused on an adventuring group called the Iron Wastes who came to town shortly before the disappearances. Rumors say that they fed the women to their winter wolves who they keep in their company.
