The Golden Garden

How do people honor and grieve their dead in your world? The most prominent display of honor granted to the fallen heroes of Epicenter is in District Commerce, in the winding Golden Gardens. Here, monuments are erected to the super-humans who have, over the years, made the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives in pursuit of the greater good. Here, statues are erected to heroes such as the original Black Terror, Mr. Scarlet or the second Fighting Devil.
Golden Gardens is located next to the National Society of Superheroes' National Hall, serving both as a duty for their membership to maintain and honor the monuments, as well as serving as inspiration for the younger generation of heroes coming up. Golden Garden is an open park, and the public is encouraged to come and learn the history of these figures through guided tours and informational placards. The Gardens are considered neutral territory, and while the occasional vengeful nemesis makes threats to tarnish an enemy's legacy, most consider the area sacred ground and allow their nemeses to rest in peace.
One undisclosed reality of Golden Garden, however, is that for many heroes, death is rarely the end. Each statue is built to be easily moveable, and a spacious storage area is beneath the park that allows statues to be easily stored in the event it turns out they were premature. Due to this, there is usually a one-month period between a hero's apparent demise, and when a memorial statue is put on display.
On the other side of the fence, there is a small, underground dive bar in Miller Heights named Conway's that caters to criminal clientele. When one of their ilk meets their final fate, a surviving friend or relative will sponsor a photo on the wall behind the bar.
