Dwarvish

The dwarves have a rough well structured language that is all work and no frills. Specific ideas and words are created by combining more general words together. For example a wizard is a "magic wielding person" while a cleric would be a "gods magic wielding person". There can be a word for anything it just might be very long. While all dwarves know Dwarvish, it has a few distinct dialects.
  • Renlarch
  • Sozarian
  • Undermountain
While they are similar enough that a Dwarvish speaker who knows the Westreach dialect can understand someone speaking Undermountain they are different enough that communication is often problematic.

Renlarch

The most common Dwarvish dialect. Almost all dwarves speak speak this dialect. When people think of Dwarvish this is what comes to mind.

Sozarian

This dialect is much rougher than Renlarch and is spoken only by the Snow Dwarves of Sozar. They have many unique phrases and an accent that is nigh incomprehensible.

Undermountain

Very few speak this dialect. It is rarely heard or spoken on the surface. The Grey Dwarves speak Undermountain and to them it is considered the original Dwarvish.
