Enetia

Trade Capital of the World

The bustling trade hub of the world, Enetia is an island city bursting at the seams. A single square foot of space is valued in the hundreds upon hundreds of gold. Such prices can only be charged because the locals can afford it; all lower citizens and servants live across the mile long bridge connecting the city state to the mainland of Erona.   Its trade value is mainly artificial, as Enetia produces no valuables of its own. It does however control trade flowing from Aes to Albion, and from Ezura as a whole. The Enetian Armada ensures its taxes are collected, whether in blood or in gold. The secret to its domination lies in its Durven crew and gunners, who unleash fiery hell on any ship that does not play by their rules. When faced with dwarven guns, most men lower their bows in no time.

Defences

The defenses of Enetia are second-to-none in the known world. Its island city is fortified with tall walls that are built to withstand its own Durven cannon, in case one of its ships is captured. The mile long bridge connecting it to the mainland has archer companies stationed along its watch towers, and the bridge itself can be drowned in burning oil if the need is great.   The garrison itself is regularly battle-tested against a score of pirate attacks in the past century. These battle-hardened and well-armoured soldiers are trained both in the spear and the bow, as well as in the use of the number of ballistae and cannon that dot the Enetian walls.

History

The city itself is a product of necessity. First built as a fortress against raiders and pirates, it soon expanded to include the ancient town of Yule, in which many dwarven and human merchants mingled. Underneath the protection of the fort the town soon expanded to encompass the entire island, and the ferries transporting the people between it and the mainland were soon not enough. Over the years and many raids, the town of Yule was swallowed whole by this new city, now christened Enetia, that soon attracted many seeking their fortune in the now-empty gold mines of Erona.
