A rich dark take on the universe in which earth has been shunned by Aliens as dangerous and backwater.   Using fear and a growing anti-alien movement in the aftermath of a war resulting in a catastrophic conditions on earth itself, the Armada have risen to hold an iron grip on humanity with a facist government.   Travel outside of the solar system was accomplished at first using beacons to amplify a subspace pathway linking the stars themselves and then using innovative technology to manipulate an energy field to travel along these paths directly.
