Lizardfolk

Lizardfolk are a race of reptilian humanoids that originated on the continent of Sahulia.

Civilization and Culture

History

The history of lizardfolk is one of subjugation and sorrow. At the height of their power, the Yuan-ti had enslaved many races, among the first of which were the lizardfolk, who were used as foot-soldiers, laborers, and even as prey for the serpents. Lizardfolk, as with many other creatures, were introduced to the other continents by the Yuan-ti during their attempted conquest of Entaria. After the Yuan-ti forces were rebuked on Arden and Arinoth, many lizardfolk took the opportunity to be free of their masters and escaped into the wilds. They can now be found in the warmer regions of just about every known continent, and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. During the counter assault launched by the dragonborn, the lizardfolk slaves that remained on Sahulia took the opportunity to break their bonds, and revolt against their oppressors. This revolution was led by a group known as the Varani, who then aided in the dismantling of the Yuan-ti Empire and the subsequent freeing of the other enslaved races. Since then, the lizardfolk have shared a strong bond with the dragonborn. While most live in small tribes dotted throughout the swamps and jungles of the world, one clan now rules over the Mangar-kunjer-kunja peninsula in the city of Ngintakan – once the capitol of the Yuan-ti Empire. The kingdom of the lizardfolk has grown strong, due to their relationship with Drakkonopolis, and possesses mighty warriors and powerful magic.
