Kobold

Kobolds are small, reptilian humanoids, standing only lightly taller than gnomes and goblins, that resemble diminutive bipedal crocodilians. They are native to the continent of Sahulia, but like many such species were believed to have been introduced to other parts of the world during the Yuan-ti incursion. Despite their resemblance to lizardfolk and other scaled-ones they are more closely related to dragons, and as such are classified as dragonkin.

History

Said to have been one of the creatures created by Tiamat before her exile, kobolds are a race of reptilian dragonkin, which superficially resemble horned, bipedal crocodilians. The history of these humanoid reptiles is a long and painful one of subjugations and indentured servitude. It is said that when she created them, Tiamat cursed their kind with frail bodies and weak wills so that her children may lord over them. Whether or not there is any truth to this, kobolds are naturally drawn to powerful beings – chromatic dragons in particular – to serve. After the Dragon Civil War, and the Fall of the Twin Dragons, many kobolds were displaced, and found themselves roped into the service of the Yuan-ti, during their conquest. Much like lizardfolk, and other such races, kobolds were native to the continent of Sahulia, but were introduced to other parts of the world (whether by dragons or by the Yuan-ti is currently unknown). Thanks to their cunning, small stature, and ability to quickly reproduce and adapt, kobolds have managed to thrive in these foreign lands.
