The Arcane University

Emotion Leads to Destruction

Taught from the very beginning, students of the Arcane University are trained to be as calm and seemingly emotionless as possible to help control their manipulation.

History

The University was founded in 1e y72 by the then Arch Mage Youssef Pirouzfar. The University was founded on the ideal that through study and practice, the secrets of the arcane can be understood. It was only later that the University learned that arcane magic fed off of emotion, and so in 1e y80 they began teaching how to control emotion and how to maintain a calm level head in all situations. Even going as far as magically ridding some students of their emotions in an attempt to create the perfect mage. This had some catastrophic side effects that would result in the near destruction and closure of the Arcane University. Instead, Youssef stepped down as Arch Mage and handed the title off to Dariush Sobhani.

Enrollment

Enrolling into the University firstly requires that the student shows some capability of being naturally inclined to manipulate magic, or pass an entry exam on the subject of arcane magic. For a time, enrollment was specifically done by invitation but in recent years has instead turned to open enrollment.

Structure

At the top of the pyramid lies the Arch Mage, considered to be the most powerful mage in the university, or at least the most knowledgeable. This title does carry some political weight as well, as the Arch Mage is often called upon by courts to answer questions related to the arcane. Thus was the Court Wizard status created. Beneath the Arch Mage lies The Tribunal, three other powerful mages who guide the studies and teachings of the professors. Then, there's the professors who actually teach how to manipulate magic.
