Theodore Halbright (a.k.a. Theo (by his friends and Luisa) Theodore (by his father Samuel) Guardian Knight (by Enma))

We meet Theodore Halbright when he is only 10 years old, attending Alexander Fitzwilliam's birthday celebration. He is the childhood friend to Alexander because Theo's father, Samuel Halbright, and Alexander's father, Augustine, were friends and because Theo's father is the Captain of the Guard for Augustine's military force, the Royal Mages.
Later, after Alexander is taken, he becomes Luisa Fitzwilliam's , Alexander's sickly elder sister, protector and the people of Arcane nickname him the Guardian Knight because he has the ability to imbue his sword with all sorts of protections and spells that make him more powerful than any of the other officers in his command or in the Royal Mages.
