Loki’s Children
Loki, trickster and enemy of the Aesir, had three children. Fearful were the children of Loki and Angrboda (giantess, “She Who Abodes Anguish”).
The first of the children is Jormungand, the great world serpent, cast into the sea by Odin where he grew and grew until he circled the world, biting his own tail to hold in the sea.
The Second of the children is the goddess Hel, greedy, harsh and cruel who was set to rule over the underworld where the dead dwell. Half black and half white, perpetually grim, she cares little about the concerns of the living and the dead.
The Third of these children is Fenrir, the great wolf, foretold to be the doom of men and gods.- Unknown Gothi, 537 AB
