Sverre Torgeir began life like many in Enga. Born to a mother and father in a small village to the south west of the Godholme in 710 AB, his early childhood was like the childhood of most children in Enga. He was taught by his father as he grew up to be a warrior and raider. It was however, not to be.
In 721 AB when he was 11, his village was attacked by a rival Jarl and his family was killed. Most of the villagers met a similar fate. Someone stepped in for Sverre when one of the raiders tried to kill him, preventing his death. Describing this man, Sverre would say that he was missing an eye and had a broad hat, but he never saw him again.
After the raid Sverre was taken in by the local Gothi, a man dedicated to Odin. He began to instruct Sverre on the religious knowledge he would need to join the Temple in the Godholme of Skali if he chose. The young Sverre took to the knowledge quickly and over the years, gained an air of piety that the village Gothi felt was impressive.
Years later, at the age of 16, Sverre traveled to the Godholme at Skali and became an initiate in the High Temple of Odin All-Father. Already prepared, his time as an Initiate was shorter than most of his fellow Initiates and at the age of 18 he received his second raven and was promoted to the rank of Junior Gothi.
The temple sent him far to the south-east to serve in a village near the Ogledi Peaks. It was here that he saw first hand what prejudice can do as he saw the hatred that his village had for mages. As one of Odins realms is magic, Sverre began to teach the villagers about the blessing that Odin had bestowed and how the mages in Toft were doing the work of Odin All-Father. By the time his tenure in the village was over, the villagers were welcoming the mages as one would a neighbor or friend.
Upon return to Skali and the Temple, Sverre was promoted to Gothi, receiving his wolves. As he was just 23, the elder Gothi put him to work in the mundane administration of the Temple. He served as the lead archivist for The Archive for six years before being moved to the temple treasury. It was here that he oversaw the great flow of wealth coming into the temple for the next ten years. Having succeeded in these posts, he was moved to directly supporting the Hoystr Gothi of the Temple at the age of 39.
For the next five years, he was groomed to take the role of Hoystr Gothi. He learned all the inner workings of the Temples politics and became a master at manipulating his fellow Gothi. He took to the political side of religion like a duck takes to water.
When the Hoystr Gothi died, it was a quick and easy election that made Sverre Hoystr Gothi of the High Temple of Odin. He was 44 years old.
Since then, he has overseen the expansion of the Godholmes power over the Jarldoms and increased the prestige of the Temple. At the same time, he has become a corpulent, lazy and somewhat despotic leader. It is said that power is all that drive him, but no one knows what his end goal is.

While there is no prohibition against Gothi in the temple engaging in relationships or sex, he has long frowned on the idea. In his opinion "How can this get you closer to the gods?".

All of his education has been through the High Temple. He does know basic survival and fighting techniques from his youth, but has not had to use them since.
