Waterglobes

Basic Information

Anatomy

When speaking about waterglobes, people typically refer to the "fruit" of a waterglobe, a fist sized green bulb storing tiny seeds and clean water, when in reality the whole plant is a small stem plant with four to six large leaves that span out from the very base of the stem. The plant usually grows about a foot tall, and each base leaf grows around

Genetics and Reproduction

it reproduces from the distribution of its fruit, which contain tiny seeds that are then spread around by creatures that drink the water.

Growth Rate & Stages

It takes around 5 weeks to fully grow a waterglobe, and it then produces around 1 waterglobe every 3 weeks. After 8 waterglobes people tend to cut the plant and grow a new one, as the plant experiences a degree of senescence and the water it produces becomes less and less clean.

Ecology and Habitats

It thrives near fossilwater, with little preference between inland rivers/lakes or coastal waters. It can grow near clean rivers, though it does grow much slower. It tends to grow in outcroppings of sand, and thus can be grown in most places when cultivated attentively.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Like all plants, it consumes sunlight and water, though waterglobes thrive when given fossilwater as opposed to clean water.

Biological Cycle

As stated before, during the first 5 weeks the plant grows its stem and roots, then after that it begins to grow fruit containing clean water for the next 24 weeks (give or take a few weeks) and then produces fruit containing dirt water for the next 12 weeks, until it can no longer filter the fossilwater, and eventually dies.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Due to being a crop plant, it doesn't have any extrasensory abilities.
Scientific Name
Waterglobe
Conservation Status
The waterglobe is crop that is harvested across almost the entirety of Endais. Most families have at least a small waterglobe garden for emergencies or to reduce the amount of gold spent on water.
