Slippies

Basic Information

Anatomy

A Slippie is a horse-like creature, larger but always emaciated. Their coat is patchy, rough, and sometimes covered in scabs. Compared to other horses they are absolutely ugly. In addition, in the place of normal eyes, they have beady, black orbs, like a doll or a bug. The final and largest difference are the growths. Slippies seem to be suffering from a widespread mutation that forces their bodies to grow multiple legs. Most are lucky enough to have their additional 2-6 legs grow in tandem with the rest, allowing them increased speed or constitution, though some, if not most, have at least 1 or 2 vestigial legs that grow out of their torsos, not even able to reach the ground.

Genetics and Reproduction

Their growth and reproductive cycle is identical to normal horses.

Ecology and Habitats

They're typically found in the central and northeastern badlands of Endais. Most are domesticated and unlike normal horses they have a tendency to self domesticate.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Unlike horses, slippies are omnivorous. They usually keep to grasses but can supplement their diets with small rodents or birds that they stomp to death with their hooves.

Biological Cycle

As a slippie gets older, their vestigial legs grow more and more. Once they reach their twilight years, their vestigial legs start to become a significant hindrance, as they often either drag uselessly on the ground or become so tall they cannot support the full weight of the rest of their bodies.
