The great Korloni Empire, the "Defenders of the Realms of Men," guarded the frontier of the civilized world from the savage creatures that dwell further inland. Goblins, Orcs, Trolls, and the dreaded undead assailed the fortifications put in place by the Empire but were all pushed back. Now, however, after a thousand years of noble existence, the Empire has fallen, not from without but from within. Civil war has cause the Empire's collapse until now it is but a shadow of its former self; only the Korloni Kingdom remains loyal to the Emperor. Powerful Lords now fight over the remnants hoping to take for Themselves the largest crumb.
Meanwhile, Invaders from across the seas have landed ashore hoping to expand Their empire to another continent. These Vincarians have come not just for land but also for magic, something foreign and exotic to Their homeland. The legions have established a colony with the purpose of sending magical items back to Their Emperor but word from home has gone silent. Talks of invasions and rebellions spell grim tidings for the Colonists who now seem to be on Their own.
Around the civilized world, dormant Peoples begin to stir. In the south, the Elves, long since becoming isolationist in Their forest, have been spotted for the first time in a century. No one knows why and to what extent the Elves intend to diplomatically join the world. Also to the south, Sioqori Tribesmen having unified have overthrown Their Taskmasters to form a powerful confederation. Similarly, in the north, the Nacirema have also unified and acquired new technology hoping to join the civilized world. Their society has modernized as the old ways of slavery and infighting have been abandoned but it remains to be seen if the old prophecy of world domination will join them in antiquity.
As new nations arise and old ones reemerge, so too have great threats both new and old. Seta, the Land of the Dead, begins to stir. The last time the dead marched in any serious numbers, the Korlani Empire and the Pythanian Order were on hand in full force to repel them but both are significantly reduced in military power. Dark times indeed appear to lurk on the horizon. Making matters worse, reports of Horsemen from the west burning and killing all in Their path have come from the great Aissur Steppe. These Men appear to be fulfilling a prophecy to bring about the end times in accordance to Their GODS' wishes.
It seems the GODS THEMSELVES have caused this time of great uncertainty. So many great powers appear to be so greatly balance in terms of strength that not even the greatest Sages and Orators can see who will emerge from this period, not only alive, but in a better position. War is inevitable but Who sides with Whom against Whom remains to be seen. Until such a time passes, the Peoples of the world will have to nervously wait...
