Baron

The Barons are the lowest level of the Peerage, equal only to the Viscount.

Qualifications

A hereditary position, the eldest is first in line.

Requirements

6 years minimum of time in the Armed forces.  Usually starts as a captain and obtains at least a Major before required time is met.

Duties

Act as a member of the Peerage, most directly responsible for the well being of the  common people.

Responsibilities

Handles most legal issues on a local level.

Benefits

Is the de facto leader of most towns in which they live.
