Personal history
Born to Tristram Thenebrys and his drow wife Narynna. His father travelled frequently as he was Steward of Westpoint for his twin sister, Countess Amelia Thenebrys. Since his wife was drow it was deemed safer for her to live at Shimmerstone with the young Dalryn. He grew up with his two year older cousin Artan, the two being best friends and frequently getting in trouble together despite being very different. Artan was much more inclined to books, mysteries and magic, while Dalryn was quick, adventurous and naturally athletic.
When he became 11 he was forced to relocate to Castle Starsea and serve his father as squire. It was Tristram's hope that his son would be named Steward of Westpoint after him, perhaps being granted Starsea in perpetuity, and he wished to cement his son's claim early on. Lacking the library and warm family life of Shimmerstone, Starsea was as ever more of a fortress and there was not much to do besides martial training. Since he was seldom allowed to roam the town of Westpoint on his own, Dalryn trained continuously to keep the boredom away and quickly developed his talents, earning the title of knight when he was fifteen. He was then sent to accompany his cousin Artan on the incognito journey of discovery that each heir of House Thenebrys is sent on. When they returned, he successfully claimed the ancestral weapon Eventyde on the insistence of Artan Thenebrys, who had become an accomplished arcanist and said to have no need for the blade.
The Strife of the Scions civil war erupted when Dalryn was seventeen. He distinguished himself in this conflict, taking over command of the ship he was serving on when its captain was killed during the Battle for Westpoint and rallying the rest of the fleet, which was threatening to fall in disarray after Countess Amelia Thenebrys was killed by a stray arrow. With his father ageing he began taking over more of his duties and was eventually named Castellan of Starsea and Steward of Westpoint by Count Artan Thenebrys. He has held that position since.
