Sisanadha Species in Enaros | World Anvil

Sisanadha

Sisanadhas live in the lower Kestrian Islands, where very few dare to live.

Basic Information

Anatomy

About the size of a chihuahua, has four short legs and remnants of what was once a tail. They have a thin, delicate skin covered in thick, coarse fur which is usually either white, brown, or dark silver or a combination of these colors.

They have thin noses and small, standing ears. Their heads are small and long in comparison to their bodies.

Genetics and Reproduction

Sisanadhas typically take on multiple partners and will have multiple children over the years. Them and their partners all lovingly raise and take care of the children together. Often, when the females go to hunt, the males stay back and protect the young.

Sisanadhas are marsupials, thus they give birth to relatively underdeveloped babies and the babies finish developing in the Sisanadha gestational parents' pouch.

Growth Rate & Stages

  • Gestation: 34-40 days
  • Newborn Joey: Lives in the gestational parents' pouch for 7 months, where they are dependent on their mother's mammary gland during that time.
  • Older Joeys: After 7 months, they begin spending more and more time outside of the pouch, however, they still need to stay in the pouch until they're fully furred and able to regulate their body temperatures.
  • Adulthood: Around 1-2 years old is when the Sisanadhas can begin reproduction.
  • Elder: Around 8 years is when they are no longer able to reproduce. Instead, they help the newer parents with raising joeys and protecting them.

Ecology and Habitats

They prefer tundra and arctic climates. During the night, they burrow under the hard ground and come out during the day.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They're omnivores but their small, thin mouths, their teeth, and short tongue are ideal for eating nuts. They are especially fond of vritrinha nuts, Kestrian ruggaberries, and sometimes little Khinars.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They're nocturnal and rely on their sense of smell and taste buds to get around. They do have large, slanted eyes, but their sight is not very useful. Scent and echolocation are the best ways to get around.
