Basic Cosmology

It is said that the gods were born of primal energies, and that even in this early form, they were both drawn to and opposed one another. When at last they gained independent existence, then did the Heavens form around them, and became the first Place in all of existence.

Later, pressed to an act of cooperation by the one among them who partook of both Order and Chaos (then named Emer, but later to become Shamrath), the gods created the material world, and populated it with all the things and lives and rules within. It is Orthodox to accept that in those first days, the Peoples and the gods were in perfect communion, but as time passed, the Heavens drifted from the material world, and in that distance was formed the Ethereal Realm (also called Astral, or The Membrane).

As a result of the War of Demise, where even in the Heavens did the gods, Order against Chaos, wage war with one another, until Emer tore the Heavens asunder, separating the gods from each other, Order to one side, Chaos to the other. This Rift ultimately caused the Hells, and all of their fel inhabitants, to come into being.

When at last Emer became Shamrath and healed the tear in the Heavens, and the Peoples performed their The Great Rituals , raising the Barrier Wall and healing the gateway to the Hells (thereby creating The Fester , balance was once more restored in the Heavens, and the Peoples were once more heard in their prayers.

As for the Primordial Realms, it is not known what their origin might be, only that they have held sway over the Elements longer than mortal memory.
