Emethia

Dragon’s Ember, 10, 1338 AD

Created by

Emethia is a wild and ruined land.

Left behind by the ravages of an astral calamity. Upon impact, the air was scorched and many died. Though it was a catalyst for a new beginning. Those who survived were few and far between. Giving rise to the new Grand Races. Of which are the following; Elves of many varieties though ever gifted with near eternal beauty, Orcs of brutish strength and almost savage warbands, Dwarves of honor and craftsmanship, those who were called Dragonkin due to their appearances and near ancient wisdom. Then there are the Humans and that races that share similar bloodlines. And few other races that pride themselves in hiding away.

This calamity shifted the landscapes and gave rise new kind of ore to be found, Jörukyr (jhur-key-er). A mineral deposit left behind by the event. It was scholars who found it to be composed of crystallized organic and metal compounds. Likely the beautified remains of the world before.

Many wonder what might have been left behind from what all races now know as The Great Calamity. For many crumbling spires of steel and overgrown ruins line some of the lands. The rest being dense forests, vast plains, dark jungles, and valleys wherein each.

Various dangers, threats, and predators lay in wait. This meant the more times than not, every race kept to their own, more for the safety from the wilderness. Rather than out of prejudice. For just like the people of Emeth had evolved to match their best chances for survival. So did the creatures of the mostly uncivilized existences.

The civilizations of Emethia are mostly farms and small townships. The populations can vary between 1,000 head, to a full valley city of about 10,000 people. Though there are some exceptions to this.

With so many people to feed and sustain, it was important that some of the strongest within the village be sent out to gather raw resources; and even possibly do reconnaissance on any potential threats to their home.

Some sadly leave and never return. Those that do, are often scared or brutally maimed. Baring nothing to show for in good news, instead, tellings of a dangerous beast was close to the settlement was the common practice for expansion as well as protection. Rarer still, are those who return with stories of the other races, and how they are stronger or weaker than their own. After centuries of this, the races found effective ways to communicate with each other through small apes and birds. Soon guilds began to form with various reasons to exist.

Just like their need to survive, the guilds served to ensure the explorers of the villages could live to see their home. Their core purpose beyond that; scour the wild lands and bring back information. Including any resources that help the villages thrive.
