Pixel City

Pixel City is the place in Elysium created by gamers and for gamers. It has every video game ever produced by humanity, houses most of Elysium's best game devlopers, and holds a thriving gaming culture with with things as FPS tournaments and game jam competitions being everyday events.

Demographics

Almost everyone in Pixel City is a gamer, a game devloper, or someone interested in covering the gaming world such as a commentator or a journalist. People not interested in the gaming world have little reason to go to Pixel City other than to spend time with friends or loved ones who also happen to be there. While the people who come and the people who stay can be people of all different sorts, the population of Pixel City is majority male.

Government

Pixel City follows the rules of the Admins just like the rest of Elysium, but they also follow a simple rule set of their own to maintain the city's good reputation. Pixel City functions more like a workplace and place of entertainment than an actual settlement where people live for long periods, and as such, tends to follow a corporate style hierarchy and employ the same sort of regulations you might find in a workplace of other sorts when in the more business oriented places within the city. However, Pixel City's gaming and play places can get pretty wild sometimes, and things like dress codes and bans on foul language become mostly meaningless.

Industry & Trade

Pixel City is where almost all video games in Elysium come from, and gaming is their largest export by several orders of magnitude. They mostly import people with talents useful to games, such as skilled artists or music designers. The gaming industry and culture in Pixel City is thriving, and has been ever since its creation several hundred years ago

Guilds and Factions

There are numerous different sects of fanboys and fangirls that have split along all sorts of lines: genre of game, developer loyalty, specific high profile games, anything you can imagine. These fanboys (as they're collectively called) often butt heads with each other and engage in heated flame wars, much like the internet of ancient 21st century Earth.   Game companies also have revelries, from the largest of the AAA megagiants that have been duking it out for centuries, to the smallest fry indie devs who gets into squabbles from time to time.

History

Little of historical significance has happened in Pixel City since its founding besides the steady rise of the gaming industry, and the city has largely been content to keep to itself and keep on doing what it has always been good at. As a result, the city has little significant history to anyone outside its culture, the release of an innovative game that spawned a new genre may well be of great interest to the denizens of Pixel City, but may carry little significance to people who don't care much for their particular craft.

Architecture

The places game devs work are often set up to like offices or computer labs, where the developers meet every day to work on their chosen projects. There are many arcade style places in the city, with designated machines for all sorts of games people might want to play. There are a few homes for the city's permanent residents, and several large arenas for high profile gaming tournaments, where spectators can watch the pros work their magic
