Tappin's Tin Works
A store in the The Mercantile run by a Gnome named Tippen Tappin. He is generally happy and pleasant, and makes beautiful tin goods such as candlesticks, cooking pots and sturdy dishes. His goods are beautiful and well made and prized by the servants who own them. They often outlast those made of precious metals and used by the powerful families themselves. Tappin is very friendly with everyone, and has the gnomic talent of making everyone thing he is on their side. He sells goods to all the houses of the big six and makes it his business to remember all that the servants tell him. In fact, when there is tension between families, there are times when the servants of one family will approach Tappin, asking him to send word along to servants of the opposing house. This kinds of diplomacy has resolved many disputes. The Stewards and servants revere Tappin for his excellent work and his wisdom. It is also suspected that he can work a little magic, but he has been careful not to either confirm or deny this :)
Purpose / Function
This small, neat shop houses Tappin and his tinworks. He has scaled everything down so that it is his size, and then placed this on a floor raised up two feet so that when customers approach he sees them eye to eye. There is a counter for sales, and also a few stools customers can sit on and chat with him while he works. These stools are where the most important business he does takes place
Alterations
The back half of the store is elevated by two feet, allong Tappin to be at eye level with his customers
Architecture
One of the brick buildings built along the Golden Way (also called Merchant's Row). Stone facad, pragmatic looking, sturdy but no fancy decorations. Kind of like a honey coloured two story box, with windows front and back and a wide door opening to the street
History
Tappin has been at his job for decades. He took this over from his father. They have held this shop during the long years of the trade wars; the quality of their goods and their skill as listeners keeping the servants loyal. These buildings have been spruced up in recent years, there are now some flower boxes in the windows and a fresh coat of paint on the walls.
