Elvedall - A new world order

Elvedall, a small region of four islands, is kept together by a crumbling peace that is about to break any moment. The war between races is about to start once more, even the human nobles can hardly keep back their wrath for each other. The elderly king is getting sicker and weaker with every day and cant keep his kingdom together. Even though his son is the rightful king by birth, his oldest sister is longing for the throne. Evestra, the humans capital city, is plagued by a deadly disease only the local church of Esther is able to handle more or less. Besides all the human made trouble, something dark and vile is waiting to return to the world it once left behind...   The lands range from soft meadows to harsh mountains, the underworld ruled by the old dwarfen kingdom and it's main city Cardiff. Even though they suffer from a king not knowing how to rule, their greatest problem are mutated animal-like creatures that emerge from an unlocated pit of dark energy somewhere in the underground tunnels. Many small towns have fallen and stay back as ruins, the bones of former fighters remain a grim reminder of lost battles and egomaniac self-esteem.   Shattered over the lands of the seven race kingdoms, there are statues shaped as the first of each kind. None is properly located but rumours exist about their remains and who guards them. It is said they keep intense power inside them, enought to either destroy or save the know world. But how they are supposed to do this remains a secret.
