Elsweryn Fifth Era

At the center of the the Great Expanse sits the world of Elsweryn, Second of the Twelve Worlds and home to the brave adventurers, ancient evils and mysterious primordial gods. A land of vast deserts, raging rivers, stretching plains and sky tearing mountains. Many peoples inhabit this ancient land and many more have come to learn of it's secrets from far beyond the seas. Magic and arcana are no strangers to this land or it's people, as the world itself is a construct of such powers, which any traveler can see in the wondrous creatures that roam the great continent.   A history deep with tragedy, destruction and strife is all most people remember now, but beyond that veil of melancholy lies the tales of great heroes, mighty empires and divine saviors. It is true that most people's minds are plagued with the horrific tales of the Infernal Wars, a period of death and destruction on an insurmountable scale never seen before. The memory of the End of Days still hangs over the world, but as it's shadow is slowly slipping away, people are beginning to find new tales sung at crowded tavern halls and told in quiet corners of great cities, tales of rescuers, heroes and revenant warriors who defended the world in those early, dark times.   Should we cast ourselves into this world now, we would find ourselves in the Fifth Era of the World, at the turn of the year 1717. The time of empires is over. New kingdoms and rulers have risen to take their place and new worlds and lands are brought to the knowledge of the continents scholars and statesmen. Adventurers of all breeds and backgrounds are emerging across the vast expanse of Elsweryn, but as with every golden age, they must all come to a close. New threats and long dead names spoken only with fear are rising again as the clouds begin to gather. Unbeknownst to many, a storm is rising across the world, a storm of fire and darkness, that should it be left unattended will consume the world into another dark age.   The time of heroes is long gone, but perhaps there are still those who might, just might see this rising tempest and stand as the bulwark against it.
